Upon Babs opening the box containing the spirits, Barry is secretly summoned. Later in the kitchen, when Melvin hears a door creaking open, he calls out to see if Barry is there. As Melvin explains that he only wanted to help him if he didn't show up late, he takes a photo to find Barry but at a blurry view which frightens him. Barry uses the refrigerator to block off Melvin, before spelling a message for him to not run away. Unfortunately, this only scares Melvin more as he does run off. Later, when Melvin enters the attic to evade Barry, the latter starts to approach him after knocking him against the wall. Melvin finally admits that Barry's death wasn't his fault, and that he froze while viewing his death, before questioning had he should have jumped in to rescue and risked drowning alongside Barry. Melvin apologizes next about how he is a coward and should have tried anything else to save Barry but didn't. Barry stops and Melvin takes another picture of him, finding that Barry is passive towards him as the two rekindle. This moment is interrupted when a demon named Bob possessed Chet Spooks and chased his friend Spider up to the attic as well. When Bob grabs Barry by the next and refers to him as "another friend", Melvin takes a picture to find out he means Barry as he yells at him to let go of his friend. Bob sadistically taunts him as it prepares to eat Barry, before Melvin and Spider fight it. Being freed from the demon, Barry is able to stall Bob as the latter makes a dash towards the box that contain the spirits. Melvin is able to retrieve the box and bid his farewells to Barry as he begins to close it. Unlike Bob who yells in defeat and attempts to avoid being seal in the box, Barry peacefully goes back inside it. After the entire fiasco simmers down, Spider hands an EVP recorder to Melvin that Barry had something to say for him. Upon playing the recording, Barry says that he never blamed Melvin for his death and that it was nice seeing him again before bidding him farewell back.
