You are... You are a Nazi! A big-bad Nazi! How could you do this? How could you be so.. vile so -so... evil!? How could you have destroyed so many life's just to be seen as a right-hand?... Despicable!
~ Bowie finding out the truth about Katzegat
You know, you do not always have to be perfect. I would say the concept of "perfect" is rather boring. Something with no flaws, no intergration, no distinctive personality... That is not something we should engage in, yet we do! Even I am guilty of this, wanting such a p-perfect American life, I dwindle away from having a life where I can just be... myself. In other words, f*ck society.
~ Bowie's speech to Eldeen

Bowert "Bowie" Olson is the anti-heroic main protagonist of the Adult Swim fan-story, Rhetorical. He is a very optimistic and mostly level-headed bank teller residing in one of New York City's most wealthy penthouses with his room-mate and bestfriend, Melissa Bayveld.

He is voiced by Carolyn Lawrence.

Appearance[]

Bowie is a 27-year-old male with fair skin with blue eyes with what seems to be kohl around his eyes, brown hair and very lifted cheek bones thanks to plastic surgery. He usually wears a white collar shirt with a long blue tie, white khaki shorts and blue shoes. He also wears a signature accessory, with it being a dark blue beret. According to his medical records in "Surgery Gone Strong", Bowie stands at 5'7" tall.

Personality[]

While living in the most dangerous part of New York City, Bowie is always optimistic. In light of bad or even awful situations, he shall always try to make other people see the good of the situation or the aftermath, with a good example of this being in the episode "One Heathing at Heavens' Door" where after the penthouse floods at Bowie's party, he tried to make everyone see the good in the situation and eventually led a team that helped them all escape. He is also, most of the time, genuinely well-intentioned and most of his actions is to help other individuals or be seen as a local hero.

According to his medical records in "Surgery Gone Strong", Dr. Vebber mentions Bowie's I.Q. Test's scores last time was 191, making Bowie a genius. This is also not implied either, as he shows his high intelligence on multiple occasions, creating very strategic plans to get him and others out of tough situations or having the natural ability to pass any test given to him without him studying for it. While he has made some dumb decisions, this is always countered with him brining a intellectual solution to the situation.

Bowie, as shown on multiple different occasions, is a huge lover of animals. He has stated in "Chocolate Fever" that he shan't ever murder or even try to harm an animal, and with this he also donates a lot of money to animal shelters and charities. In "Four Rabbits' Feet", Bowie is genuinely disgusted by the mass and illegal breeding of rabbits in the United States, and did everything in his power to make this breeding stop which worked in the end, proving just how far he would go to save animals. He also often visits zoos and animal sanctuaries just to be in the presence of such beautiful creatures, and in "Mama" even sings with random birds.

However, while he does have his good sides to him, Bowie also tends to be very villainous. Because he is a bank teller, he has obvious access to a lot of money and tends to steal it for his own personal needs, but sometimes also giving it to charities. He sometimes tends to be overly-aggressive with certain topics, and if somebody does not agree with him he shall sometimes assaults or insult them. In "Why Has It Come To This?", he even murdered an Uber customer after she tells him to put off his Taylor Swift music, calling it "country trash" which greatly upset Bowie. However, even when he is malicious, it is even more so countered by his heroic deeds, making Bowie a good person at heart, while in execution, he sometimes is a villain.

Heroic Deeds[]

Season 1[]

  • In "Mama", he reunited Melissa with her mother.
  • In "Substantial Evidence", Bowie tried to help the police catch a criminal by gathering as much evidence as possible.
  • In "Four Rabbits' Feet", he crosses the Goodness Zone by ending illegal rabbit breeding in the United States, saving countless rabbits the trauma of being forcibly impregnated and the overpopulation and risk to the public.
  • In "Creepy Scrawlies", he gave Eldeen an empowering speech to help relieve of her stress of trying to stay as "perfect" as possible in the eyes of the society, saying that she does not need to be perfect and that society is wrong.
  • In "Eat Thy Ants", he crosses the Goodness Zone yet again by helping anteaters escape mass enslavement, torture and even eventual murder.
