Boyfriend, alternatively referred to as The Boyfriend or shortened to BF, is the protagonist of Friday Night Funkin' and Sonic Legacy.
He is a young singer and rapper who encounters a dangerous entity known as X, who tricks Boyfriend into having a singing battle against him by pretending to be Sonic the hedgehog.

Boyfriend is portrayed as a young, overzealous rapper with a love for music, donuts, and his girlfriend. He loves to sing and show off his skills, resulting in his confident and cocky character. He is very determined and persistent about reaching his goals and won't let anyone get in the way of his success, even when threatened with death.
This can be seen in his in encounter with X, where he shows no fear at all and always has a confident look on his face except when he loses. This is also because he is extremely unintelligent and is not aware of the danger, making him practically fearless.

After the many rap battles Boyfriend went through in order to get with Girlfriend, our blue haired hero presumably receives a disc with the words SONIC.EXE written on it. He puts the game inside his computer and starts playing. It should be noted that it is debatable whether or not Boyfriend is physically transported into the game or he is just playing it on his computer. In the game he battles X disguised as Sonic the Hedgehog. After that X makes a gesture for Boyfriend to follow them. Since Boyfriend is not as fast as X, it takes him a few hours to get to them but he arrives eventually. There, they sing for a while until X finally reveals his true self which starts the next song. However, Boyfriend does not seem too bothered by it only having a shocked reaction to a skull being thrown at him. Later into the song X has different expression as the area burns down, the dead bodies of Tails, Knuckles and Eggman are visible and the song becomes more intense. Yet despite all this, Boyfriend does not give up, actually he becomes EVEN MORE determined as his sprites become more expressive and energic. Then the song ends and we see Boyfriend in the reflection of the computer he was presumably playing the game on. After that, the player can use the main menu from Boyfriend's point of view.
