Dimwitted Heroes are heroes who lack most forms of intelligence and common sense, which is usually used for comedy reasons, they rarely (if ever) use their heads or even have no wisdom or common-sense at all (the former definition would be better classified as reckless). They are the polar opposites of Masterminds, who are exceptionally resourceful and intelligent characters.

Despite this, some of these heroic idiots can be considered NOT particularly stupid nor ignorant, as some heroes can often be considered more careless, silly and sometimes, ignorant or feeble-minded as opposed to outright dumb. However, it is rare for idiots to reach the heights of fanon characters like Mario, Bowser Junior or Jeffy in terms of sheer stupidity.

The difference between intelligence and wisdom is that intelligence is the ability to use knowledge to solve complex problems, whereas wisdom is based on using judgement to deal with practical situations in order to come to better long-term outcomes. So there are characters who have great wisdom, but are otherwise not very intelligent. Shonen heroes are capable of being wise despite their lack of book smarts and general intelligence. There are characters with high intelligence but have very little common sense (e.g Mario). If a dimwit has shown signs of intelligence, they must be classified as Genius since it is impossible for a character to be both; a dimwit and a mastermind.
