Misguided heroes are heroes who accidentally do the wrong thing in a situation due to fallacious reasoning and ill-considered judgment, which is mainly because they don't know any better in that particular circumstance. This often appears in fables where some wide-eyed youth is set to be taught a lesson over the course of the story. This might as well be done for competent characters who are entirely grown and simply don't see a certain scope of the world they must be concerned about.

They probably will still take a staring role in the their works, but the works themselves exist under the concept that characters start off being unsure in a way that's worse. Their are other times where these heroes might be misguided/manipulated by an outside source, instead of themselves alone, and some of these cases might qualify as pawns of the villain, which depends on the story or context.

Compare and Contrast with Dimwits and Incompetent heroes (though they can go hand and hand if they make reckless and monumental blunders without knowing it was a bad thing to do so before learning from their mistakes). The bad counterparts of these heroes are delusional villains.

Misguided heroes could actually be pure-hearted since they probably haven't ever wanted to cause despair or do things that aren't at all in the first place while lacking all corrupting qualities. Even the most ingenious of people can be seen as misguided before they learn for the better.
