Cid Highwind is a major protagonist in the Team Four Star series, Final Fantasy VII Machinabridged. He is voiced by Brienne Olvera.
Biography[]
Cid Highwind used to have a partnership with Shinra to help him build a rocket so that he could blast off into space. However, when it came time for lift off, Shera considered the possibility of there being no air in space and went in to make sure there was proper oxygen for Cid, believing her sacrifice to be worthwhile. Cid refused to go through with it and aborted the launch. This caused Shinra to cancel the program and shift the space division to more mundane studies while putting Palmer in charge.
Afterward, Cid and Shera started living together. While their relationship on the outside comes off as dysfunctional, they manage to make it work by having BDSM sessions behind closed doors with Cid letting Shera be the dom.
Eventually, Cid gets a visit from Cloud Strife who had come to lecture him on his smoking habit only to regret it upon meeting him. Upon which, the two engage in a friendly conversation on their dreams with Cloud telling how his dream of becoming a first-class soldier came true along with getting to fight alongside his hero before said hero destroyed his village. Hearing this, Cid tells him it's best not to meet his heroes before telling him about how his dream failed to come true before stating that Rufus would be coming to visit under the belief that he would be getting a second chance.
However, Upon meeting with Rufus, he finds out that he only came to take the tiny bronco and has zero faith in the pilot's dream while telling Cid he can work an office desk job. Being told this, Cid refuses to cooperate just as the Avalanche party accidentally start up the Tiny Bronco which gets its engine shot up by Shinra. This gets Cid to lose faith for a moment before Cloud attempts to remind him of their conversation before Tifa chimes in and tells him to keep trying. The party then invites Cid to join them, which Cid agrees to as he has nothing better to do.
Trivia[]
- For the naming screen, Unlike the rest of the party who have jokes on their names, Cid's screen is just his regular name being typed out with coughing replacing the beeps and the letters being blurred.
