The Cherry Clone Mario (also known as Clone Mario) is a minor character in SMG4. He was a clone of Mario that was created by the latter eating a Double Cherry powerup.

He was voiced by Charles Martinet, who also voiced Mario and Luigi in the same series, as well as their canon counterparts.

Biography

He first appeared in Stupid Mario 3D World, as Mario was so angry about going to different worlds through warp pipes that he shot a creature called Hisstocrat, who dropped a Double Cherry power-up and then Mario eats the power-up, resulting in his clone being born. The plumber was so happy about having a clone that he accidentally forgot that his brother Luigi exists. Toad was very annoyed about Mario having a clone and says that one Mario was already bad enough.

After Princess Peach sees Bowser kidnapping the Green Sprixie in his car, she, Mario, Luigi and Toad fight him, with Mario's clone joining in. Bowser is surprised that there are two Marios as soon as they jump onto the front of his car. Bowser then transformed into Meowser and shoots a fireball at Mario, but the clone ended up burning to death instead as he sacrificed himself to save his "brother". Mario was very devastated as he runs to his dying clone and holds him, with Luigi, Peach and even Toad watching in sadness. The Mario clone says "Imma coming... spaghetti gods", but a sad Mario tells his clone to not leave him and says to his clone that they still have so many things to do together. As the clone points to Mario's heart, he says "I'll always be right here." and then dies, which continued to make Mario sad. Mario even says that he'll "never know what it's like to have a brother", meaning that he accidentally insulted and forgot about Luigi's existence again. After that, Mario angrily decides to avenge his deceased clone by defeating the Koopa King.

The clone was never seen again afterwards, making him one of several characters in the SMG4 series to be permanently deceased. However, he once made an appearance in Mario is Fine, albeit in Mario's imagination.

Personality

Clone Mario shared pretty much the same personality as Mario. However, he did not have the villainy that the latter occasionally has.

Trivia

• He is similar to Beta Luigi from SMG4: AREA 64, as both are clones of Mario and Luigi respectively, both only appeared once (outside of Clone Mario's cameo in Mario is Fine and Beta Luigi's cameo in Mario Scratches His A**) and both sacrificed themselves to save Mario. However, Clone Mario actually died whereas Beta Luigi survived).
