Courageous Heart created by Sir-Writesalot (Courageous-of-Light) is a brown alicorn stallion with a cutie mark that resembles a heart with wings. He is the Champion of Light and the love interest of Twilight Sparkle.

In the Age of Equestria universe created by MelSpyRose, Courageous Heart makes his appearance in the comics and he becomes the main protagonist and the love interest for Twilight Sparkle. He eventually joins the Mane 6 on their quest to find the City of Tambelon and ring the Bell of Freedom in order to defeat the evil Grogar and his Dark Alliance. Courageous Heart eventually becomes the Champion of Light and the Element of Courage. At the end of Age of Equestria: The Return of Tambelon, after defeating Grogar and his followers, Courageous Heart moves in with Twilight Sparkle and her friends at the Castle of Friendship and they welcome Flash Sentry and Tempest Shadow as part of Twilight Sparkle's Royal Guard. Courageous Heart confesses his love for Twilight Sparkle before they start dating together.

SUMMARY:
(Chronicles of Courageous Heart)
He was born 4,000 years ago, long before the founding of Equestria. It was during a time when the many ponies and other creatures of the world lived apart from one another; Some were friends, while others were rejected because they were different (Sound familiar?). Courageous was born different than most other ponies; His mother was a unicorn and his father was a pegasus. In a one in a million chance, he was born with both wings and a horn...but without the ability to use magic. This caused him to get picked on and called a "freak" for being different. While the village he grew up in mistreated him, his family loved him and protected him always. However, things changed when his father was kidnapped by a clan of demon gargoyles, leaving Courageous without a father for the next few years.
Some years later, when he became a teenager, Courageous Heart decided to set off and find his father...along with his destiny. After bidding farewell to his mother and big sister, he left his home village of Einhorn. Along his journey he first met Changelings, which were once a beautiful and banevolent race of shape-shifting creatures. However, despite becoming friends with their Princess, Chrystala, and others...Courageous was captured by the same clan of gargoyles, and their vicious leader Scorpan, and taken away. However, he was later rescued by a tribe of zebras that brought him into their tribe...for now.
He learned their ways over the next year or two, and fell in love with the chief's daughter Makena. Their love was a strong one, but his quest to find his father was still calling him. He eventually left the tribe and continued on. He bid farewell and never forgot Makena or all that he learned from the tribe. His quest later brought him to the pegasai, and Firefly (Rainbow Dash's ancestor). His flying improved while spending time with them, and helped Firefly prove that mares have as much right to participate in events as much as stallions do. After learning much in the home that his father came from, Courageous and Firefly later rescued Makena and her tribe from Scorpan...who was trying to recapture the "horned pegasus" that he wished to bring before his master, Tirek. After the rescue, Courageous Heart continued on his journey.
He later met the Earth ponies and an honest farmer named Appleseed (Applejack's ancestor and the first of the Apple Family). With his help, Courageous became stronger and learned what it meant to be an earth pony. After his time with them, he later discovered the land of the buffalo tribes and dragon clans...and helped save a young buffalo named Whistling Wind and a baby dragon named Scales; He rescued them from the great White Timberwolf and was hailed as a hero. Now welcomed among the tribes, Courageous eventually learned of a prophecy that foretold of a pony that would stand up to the Darkness, and unite the many creatures as one...bringing Friendship and Harmony to all. He was not sure of what it meant, or if he was the destined one. All that mattered to him at that moment was to return home...where he felt something was going to happen there.
Upon returning via flying a long way, Courageous saw that Scorpan had invaded is village to lure him back. He tried to fight the large gargoyle, but was no match for the greater creature. What was worse was that Scorpan reveals himself to be Stoutheart, Courageous's father. Courageous could not believe it, but it was true: His father was transformed into this monster...one that would serve Tirek without question. This hurt his family when they saw how evil the Darkness is and what it could do to a kind and loving father as Stoutheart.
However, Courageous refused to let this bring him down; He swore at that moment he would never allow the Darkness to hurt his family, his friends, or any other pony or creature again, and would save his father. At that moment, The Light (The source of all Harmony, Friendship, and Good) granted Courageous it's power and returned Stoutheart to normal. The Prophecy had come true: The Champion that would lead the Forces of Light against the Darkness was finally chosen.
With his family reunited and Firmhoof, the village leader, banished for being responsible for dealing with the gargoyles and Stoutheart's capture long ago, the unicorns welcomed Courageous as one of their own...and as a friend.
Afterwards, the Dark Lord Tirek began his assault on the world...darkening the skies and enslaving all under his power and will. Courageous gathered his friends and allies, and together they forged the Elements of Harmony, based on what each species represents: Unicorns represent Magic; Earth Ponies represent Honest; The Pegasai represent Loyalty; Dragons represent Generosity...since they gave them the gems to forge the Elements; Zebras represent Laughter...since they know happiness is bliss, and laughter is the best medicine they can offer; The buffalo represent Kindness, since they are friendly with the animals of the land.
Together, they fought the forces of Darkness and summoned the Rainbow of Light; The Six Elements and the Light combined brought forth the one power that could defeat Tirek. While he was weakened, Tirek refused to lose here. He then blackened the area and sucked Courageous into the amulet he wore, trapping the Champion forever inside. While Tirek lost the battle...without the Champion, the Rainbow of Light could not be summoned again.
Tirek was imprisoned in Tartarus, and the creatures of the world returned to their lives...but without the hero that brought them this victory; They did not know what became of him, since Tirek blinded them from what he did. They continued to live on...but eventually, the six species grew apart and distant from the other; Old hates returned in time, and the Champion was slowly forgotten by most. The Elements of Harmony disappeared and later found their way to the uninhabited land that would later become Equestria.

As time went on, thousands of years later, Equestria was later founded by the three tribes of ponies, who put aside their differences and became friends. Harmony was founded and peace reigned in this paradise. Princess Celestia and her sister Luna later became the rulers of this land, and eventually discovered the Elements of Harmony, which helped them battle against enemies such as Discord and Sombra...whom the latter was secretly doing the bidding of Tirek.
While Imprisoned, the Dark Lord saw the two alicorn princesses as a threat and planned to divide them. He reached out to Luna and whispered things into her head that drove her to turn on her sister...and become Nightmare Moon. Princess Celestia was left with no choice but to banish her sister into the moon. From that day, the Elements could not be wielded by the two sisters that were found worthy by them to use. Tirek's plan succeeded and would continue to absorb the essences of evil accros the world...slowly...in order to recharge his power and help him escape.
As time passed, the era of a new generation began...starting with Twilight Sparkle and her best friends. Courageous Heart, still within a stasis state while trapped inside the amulet, could sense the potential of these mares, especially the young unicorn. He admired her, even while he slept in his prison. He could also sense that Tirek would be close to becoming strong enough to escape Tartarus.
The battle with the Light and Darkness would soon resume.

Twilight Sparkle and her friends were ready to enjoy the next Grand Galloping Gala, but that day was interrupted when a dark cloud fell upon Equestria; Tirek the Supreme had finally escaped from this prison and was more powerful than ever. He planned to make this land his throne of power, and turn everypony into his servant...which he did. The Mane Six were able to escape in time, but some of their friends and family were not so lucky; They became servants of the Darkness.
With the Elements of Harmony unable to stop the demon centaur alone, the Mane Six set out on a journey to unite the six species over southern Equestria to help free their home from the Dark Demon. Twilight Sparkle encountered Courageous in her dreams and learned much from him. She even gained feelings for him, as he did for her. She eventually discovered that the Champion was imprisoned in Tirek's amulet and with the help of her friends and new allies, they freed him with the Elements. With Courageous freed (age unchanged due to being in stasis state) he and the Mane Six led an army of good against Tirek, defeated him, and saved their home and all those they loved.
With Equestria and the rest of the world freed from Tirek's evil, Courageous decided to stay in Ponyville with Twilight, admitting he cared for her and had new friends.

Some time later, Courageous along with Twilight and the others, would all have different adventures and discover many new lessons on Friendship along the way. The Champion even was adopted into a family that were descendants of Courageous's sister Charisma. He later spent time with his marefriend Twilight, his little sister Shammy, and helped defeat a few villains that tried to overtake Equestria: A dark dancer named Don Porsha, and the Changeling Queen Chrysalis (Later revealed to be Chrystala, whom Courageous and the Mane Six restored).
Over time, Courageous was preparing for the big moment: He would finally pop the question to Twilight. Courageous succeeded and the wedding took place shortly after. However, a demon ram named Grogar interrupted the wedding and kidnapped Twilight. He took her to his island kingdom of Tambelon, where he set a trap for Courageous. Although he nearly succeeded, Grogar was defeated by the forces of Good and the island was restored...and became where Twilight and Courageous would rule together.

Now, fully married and with a kingdom of their own, the two began helping their new home grow and prosper. Many ponies, including their friends and family, moved to the island to be close to the ones they love. Later, Twilight became pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby filly both she and Courageous named Starlight.
Ten years later, the Island of Tambelon had become the center of Harmony for all creatures (Not just ponies like Equestria). Peace has reigned, and Courageous's daughter is ready to begin her own adventures...making new friends and learning new lessons on friendship as she goes.
However, after an old enemy, Grenadier Apple, invaded Tambelon Palace to take control of the kingdom. Courageous and his powers proved no match for the evil witch...and watched as his wife was put into a dark sleep and his daughter taken prisoner. But thanks to the help of his friends, Grenadier was defeated and their home was saved...but the dark spell still had control over Twilight. Making one of the important decisions ever, Courageous used up all the power the Light granted him to awaken Twilight.
Now, even without any powers to speak of, Courageous Heart would continue to protect and watch over every pony and more in the kingdom he and Twilight rule over.

Some time later, When a wealthy pony from the far away country of El Caballo (Means "Horse" in Spanish), ponies all over Tambelon were disappearing one by one...then reappearing with no memory of their time missing. Courageous and his wife Twilight suspected Don Oro Dinero (Gold Money), but found no evidence linking him to all this...and were bound by the laws to not carry it any further, even as Royalty.
Courageous Heart felt that his role as a champion and protector was failing, and he was not the same pony he once was long ago; Now as a prince, husband, and father...his role as the Chosen one of the Light ended long before he gave up his unique gift. But his courage returned when he discovered that Twilight was masquerading as the Masked Mare, the legendary outlaw of El Caballo, he joined her and became the Silver Stallion...and soon discovered Oro Dinero's plans to steal gold from the City of Tambelon itself.
Together, they thwarted his plans and Tambelon was saved. Once Dinero was returned to El Caballo to be imprisoned for his crimes, Courageous and Twilight packed away the outfits of the Masked Mare and Silver Stallion...and may pull them out again one day should the people need the legends again.
But for now, the Prince and Princess are ready to lead their kingdom into a new day...with their own Courage and Friendship to guide them along the way.

Prince Courageous Heart continues to rule alongside his wife, Princess Twilight Sparkle, as their young daughter Starlight starts a whole new school year with all her friends. But other that watching in admiration of their little filly having so much fun and enjoying her foalhood, a new event awaits him and his family: Twilight Sparkle...would soon give birth to a new little foal.
Some time later after a few events and a few of his daughter's friends earning their cutie marks, Courageous would bare witness to his wife giving birth to their newborn son: Proudheart.
Eventually, some time before the holidays, Courageous Heart and his wife become ever more prouder of their daughter when they see she has earned her cutie mark...but were unable to witness it (Due to Starlight and her friends on a mission to stop Dismay. She earned it during the encounter, which she does not reveal to her parents).
Now with his little filly discovering her special talent, Courageous Heart and Twilight Sparkle shall look forward to teaching Starlight all she needs to know on being a princess in the years to come.

Not too long after, Courageous Heart and his family received a message from the Kingdom of Shamrock that it had been divided into two factions...and the ruler of the nation, Princess Aira, requested his help along with the others.
Courageous, the Mane Six, the Cutie Mark Crusaders, plus his family traveled to Shamrock where they discovered that Don Porsha...whom Tap Step had defeated years back...was active once more and leading his own faction, the Masked Army, into a new era for Shamrock; While some did not side with him, there were ponies who desired change in a neverending traditional kingdom.
While Tap Step wanted nothing more than to defeat his former studen-turned-rival, he sprained his hoof and became unable to continue. Courageous, while not as skilled or experienced, was not up to the task at first...but it all changed when his beloved Twilight discovered a bit about the history of Shamrock: It turns out that Charisma, his older sister from long ago, was one of the founding members that came to this land to build a new future for the decendents of today's Shamrock. Now understanding that this kingdom was started by his sister, Courageous had a change of heart and took up the role of Shamrock's new champion in hopes of defeating Don Porsha and saving this great nation.
For the next few days, Courageous would learn the best moves he could by his foster father...the longest reigning dancing champion in all of Shamrock's history. Even with his sprained hoof, Tap would do all he could to ensure his son would succeed and make everypony proud...even his own sister Charisma.
When the Shamrock Grand Dance Festival arrived, Courageous and all his friends did their best to please the wonderful pony citizens of Shamrock...by using all their talents and skills to add to the activities and fun. However, everything changed when Don Porsha attacked...trapping everypony in a dark barrier and going one-on-one with Courageous in a grand dance battle. Although not as experienced, Courageous managed to dish it out and free his opponent from the dark mask that was controlling him...smashing it to pieces.
With Don Porsha no longer under the influence of Darkness and free to make amends with his homeland and the ponies all around him, Courageous Heart became the new Champion of Shamrock...a title that would last forever.

Courageous Heart and his wife now watch as their precious filly Starlight becomes a teenager at long last, now moving on from foalhood to the next stage in her life. With her best friends and little brother, Proudheart, by her side...Courageous could never be a prouder father.
But while he watches over his family as often as he can, the Kingdom of Tambelon faces a time of crisis: The newly-arrived centaur who wish to live here are seen and disliked by various ponies all over. Despite the sins of the ONE CENTAUR nearly bringing the world into Darkness...twice...the other centaur are not to blame, but the citizens are too stubborn to listen.
To help soothe and help make everypony understand, Courageous and Twilight help put together a play with the founding of Tambelon...and how all the species that formed it put aside their difference to live and thrive together. However, the intrusion of a master jewel thief named Charade destroyed the play, causing damage to the stage and forcing the show to be cancelled for a long time. A sure-fire plan came to an end.
When Courageous and the Mane Six gathered in Applelulu to help stop a group of timberwolves from attacking the orchards during the Harvest Season...and the Harvest Moon...the Prince of Courage was bitten by a timberwolf which changed him into Courageous Howl: Half-wolf and Half-pony. This was the first time Courageous would be turned into a form of evil...but thanks to Twilight's love for him...along with Flutterbat disctracting him and the moon being blocked by the clouds...Courageous returned to normal. However, such a moment as a were-pony scares him...because now he knows he is vunerable to corruption unlike before when he was the Champion of Light.
But now...his attention returns to being there for his family and friends...while hoping to find a way to put a halt to the protesting and the arguments between the pony citizens and the new centaur citizens before it grows out of control.
Interesting facts: Courageous's time period is similar to the Bronze Age of our history. Around 4,000 years ago, the Celts lived throughout Europe. The area of focus is in Britain. The Wales were one of the few Celtic tribes that thrived during that time period. So in short, Courageous's heritage is similar to that of the Wales, plus he speaks in a Welsh accent.
Other Facts: Courageous Heart has many similar features, as well as similar backgrounds, to other heroes we know from other stories: Aragorn from "Lord of the Rings" , Link from "Legend of Zelda" , and my favorite: Luke Skywalker from "Star Wars". Every one of these heroes started out as nothing, but eventually rose up to something. Courageous was the same, and thanks to the friends he made, the lessons he learned, and the courage he showed when no other pony would...he became a guardian, a protector...a champion.

Courageous Heart in MelSpyRose’s MLP: Age of Equestria Universe[]
Courageous Heart was born an Alicorn stallion in his family at Trottingham. His mother, Elegancy and his father, Stout Heart were shocked by their son’s birth for the birth of an Alicorn has never been seen or done before. Fearing that every pony would judge, worship, or bully Courageous because of his birth defect, Elegancy and Stout Heart have decided to keep their son’s wings hidden. Their first instinct was to send a message to Princess Celestia and report that their son was born an Alicorn and that they need an explanation for his rare birth defect. But they chose not to because they feared that Courageous Heart would abuse his own Alicorn abilities if he followed a dark path under Celestia’s wing as her student. As the years passed by, Courageous Heart became a social outcast as he isolated himself from the ponies who live in Trottingham because he didn’t want any pony to find out what he really is underneath his dark red cloak that his mother gave him to hide his pair of wings.
