~ Girlfriend after briefly saving Boyfriend from MX before fleeing. |
Girlfriend is the deuteragonist of the Friday Night Funkin' mod Mario's Madness.
She is the partner of Boyfriend who, after receiving a mysterious game cartridge from a yellow "crewmate", winds up getting sucked into the M's "world", where she and Boyfriend now must face against corrupted versions of the Mario cast, with it all being managed by a mysterious entity known as M, who according to the mod's trailer, was once a partner of her father, Daddy Dearest, before being betrayed and sealed away inside the very game cartridge they retrieved and now seeks to claim vengeance, and little does Girlfriend know, she is just what M needs to achieve that goal.
Personality[]
Not much is shown of Girlfriend's personality within this mod, due to her minimal lines of dialogue. With that said however, she is shown to be caring towards Boyfriend, as seen by how she attempts to save him from MX after mysteriously coming back to life, as well as trying to defend him at the beginning along with herself, by attempting to use her demon powers on M. It could be implied that M was even aware that GF could have actually posed a threat to him, had she not been handled properly since he is the only enemy to have nullified GF's powers, though it's made apparent that he wasn't able to nullify all of it since she was able to resurrect herself after being killed by MX as mentioned above. She is also shown to have clear faith in Boyfriend given that aside from when facing M for the first time and while BF faces off against MX, she is shown to be almost always smiling and even expresses greater confidence in herself whenever she's at his side. This is shown best when in spite of M having transformed and used practically the full extent of his abilities, she didn't lose her composure not once until she was forcibly separated from him.
Appearance[]
Girlfriend's regular appearance is that of a tall, relatively young-looking woman with long, thick auburn hair, a red dress and high heels as well as red painted nails. She takes on several other appearances within the mod as well, such as a suggestive looking Mario costume in songs such as "I HATE YOU", as well as a punk/gangster look in the face off against Mario and Luigi from Luigi's day out.
After being captured, killed, and turned into a pawn by Ultra M, her appearance is vastly altered. She takes on a mangled appearance, with her demon wings sprouting out of her back, her arms and nails have been elongated, she's been gutted and has her entrails hanging out. She has large red eyes, her limbs are hanging from strings and dawns Peachās crown above her head.
Trivia[]
- It is stated in the trailer for V2 of the mod that Boyfriend is Daddy Dearest's son-in-law, which strongly implies that he and Girlfriend got married in this continuity.
- To date, this is one of the few Friday Night Funkin' mods where Girlfriend winds up dying permanently in the end alongside Boyfriend.
- Other versions of her that got killed includes such as her Friday Night Monsters of Monsters version also got killed by Godzilla.exe in "Too Scratch" (though Boyfriend survived that however) which also involved her body being ripped apart and mangled.
- Besides I Hate You and Dark Forest, Girlfriend has a unique sprite for every song that she appears in.
- The only songs she doesn't make an appearance in are as follows: Mario Sing and Game Rythm 9, Oh God No, Apparition, Last Course, No Hope, No Party (though she is seen in the Game Over screen), Paranoia, Overdue, Abandoned, The End, Apparition (Legacy), Forbidden Star, No Party (Old), Overdue (Old), and Timeout/Demise (Old).
- Technically, in Mario Sing and Game Rythm 9 and Paranoia, she has unique sprites despite them not actually being her.
