Hero Fanon Wiki

This hero is a fanmade Baldi's Basics character made by the same person that also has it's own spot on the Baldi's Basics Fanon Wiki. To see the page on that wiki, go see it in the "See also" section.

Gurin Saiki, or simply referred to as Gurin is a helpful character from Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning: The True Story and a minor character in the Bonus Feature shorts. She is the kind, homeless and poor girl who goes to the schoolhouse to brush her hair and helps students who are trying to face Baldi and other antagonists. Gurin is present on the first day of the first week and so forth until she finds a family shelter at the end of the game.

She is voiced by CourtneyTotalDrama9000 in the game, while Vanna M. Pareja voices her in the shorts.

Personality[]

Though she might look like a stereotypical Japanese ghost who would want to hurt people, Gurin is actually very helpful and nice. She seems to really care about her hair, and of all places, goes to the bathroom in the schoolhouse to brush her hair every day. When encountering people, most specifically the player, Gurin lets them know she is innocent and socializes with them and offers a spare hair brush if needed. Its also confirmed by the creator that she even offers students to style their hair regardless of gender, even if it means giving boys a hairstyle primarily used for girls.

Gameplay[]

Throughout the week, Gurin will spawn in the first stall of the first floor bathrooms with the gender requirement varying (sometimes she'll go to the male bathroom, and sometimes the female one). She will sit on the toilet in the stall with the door open, and when first encountered, she'll introduce herself to the player and tell them that she is harmless. She'll discuss them about what is happening and that she has experienced the dangers about them too. Gurin will then give the player a hairbrush and will tell them to use it on Baldi because he will mistaken it for a chicken leg. If you see her again, she'll just give another spare hairbrush to you if you already used one. If you see her while Baldi is chasing you to the bathroom she is in, she'll tell you to leave or hide and will give you a spare hairbrush if you don't already. At the end of the game, Gurin and her family seeks a shelter for the homeless and acquires a solid amount of money enough for Gurin to become an assistant hairdresser at the shelter in her teenage years.

Trivia[]

  • Gurin is based off of the Japanese ghost women stereotype where the ghost have long stringy black hair long enough to cover their face and wears nightgowns.
    • Her surname, "Saiki", is adapted from the surname "Saeki", translating to the former word in English. "Saeki" was based off of the last names of Toshio, Takeo, and Kayato Saeki, the three ghosts in The Grudge.
      • Not only that, but she currently owns a black pet cat named "Markus", after the ghost cat named "Mar" in "The Grudge".
  • She is inspired by Midori Gurin and Horuda Puresu from Yandere Simulator. In fact, her name, "Gurin", is based off of Midori's surname itself.
    • However, "Gurin" is actually the katakana transcription of the English word "green". If her name wasn't a katakana and was actually a name that means "green", she would've been named "Midori".
      • The reason why her name is a katakana is because it's inspired by the title of the Ring movie (Ringu), written as an Engrish word.
  • Her current and previous age is unknown.
  • If the player does not even encounter her throughout all of the weeks, she will still be mentioned at the end of the game.
  • She resembles Indonesian illusionist and magician The Sacred Riana and Creepypasta figure Sally Williams.
  • Her voice actor, Vanna M. Pareja, is a Youtuber who owns a channel named Vannamelon where she does voice impressions, reactions and plays video games along with VannaBee where she does stories and animations.
  • She shares some similarities to the Hairdresser Octopus/Takoyama-san from the PaRappa The Rapper franchise.
