Henry Stickmin is one the two main protagonists (alongside Ellie Rose) of the fanfic Burdens of a Timeline Traveler.
He is a stickman who after being screwed over by a godlike entity, finds himself stranded in the Toppat Civil Warfare timeline, with him now making it his goal to make the best ending he possibly could.
Personality[]
In comparison to his canon self, Henry is a lot more laid back and kindhearted than his main counterpart. With him wanting to accomplish the best ending possible, and him pulling a majority of his villainous acts because the Entity forced him too. He is also generally more hands off with his actions in comparison to his canon counterpart, mainly because of his past experiences with the repeating timeline.
Biography[]
The fic starts with Henry continuing from the Toppat Civil Warfare ending and it turns out after Henry, Dave, and the loyalists escaped, Ellie took leadership of the clan and swore revenge against Henry for ditching her at the wall but Henry comes up with a plan to try and gain back the clan's respect. First he let Dave go seeing as he wasn't a Toppat and he decided to broadcast a video to Ellie telling her to let him explain his reasons for leaving Ellie at the wall and she should also let Thomas Chestershire and Geoffrey Plumb back into the clan and in return he will give her the Tunisian diamond that he stole. Ellie reluctantly agrees and Henry brings the diamond to them which Ellie has checked to make sure it isn't a fake. After it isn't a fake, Ellie takes Henry prisoner and demands an explanation as to why Henry ditched her at the wall.
Throughout the interrogation, Henry tells Ellie that he didn't want to leave her at the wall, but he had to, and he then proceeds to start telling Ellie his entire story starting from Breaking the bank all the way up to current time. Henry explains that at the start of breaking the bank, he met an entity that told him not to dig his way into the bank otherwise he would be killed. But Henry ignored him and instead dug straight down anyway and did indeed end up killing himself but the entity decided to bring Henry back to life and gave him a deal. He lets Henry come back to life whenever he messes up a choice and in return the entity gets to have quality entertainment watching Henry hurt and kill himself all the time and gets the opportunity to mock Henry after all of his failures. Henry accepts the deal and then goes on his adventure across the six games but once he gets to Completing The Mission, he starts to feel bad about the choices he made in Fleeing The Complex as Henry reveals he had to go through all of the possible endings during his adventures but only 3 out of the 5 endings in Fleeing The Complex felt like a good ending to him.
Once Henry reaches Completing The Mission he learns from the entity that this would be his final adventure. Wanting to end it on a good note, Henry saved the Triple Threat ending for last as he felt that would probably be his favourite outcome. However just in case, Henry saved a couple of backup endings that he felt he would be good outcomes just in case the entity tampered with anything. Henry ended the adventure with Triple Threat and it all seemed good. Unfortunately a few days later, Charles and Ellie were both killed mysteriously and Henry was transported back into Completing The Mission after the entity gave Henry a decision to continue from a different ending. Henry decided to go for the Toppat King ending instead but the same thing happened to everyone he cared about in that ending too. And Henry did the same for every good ending possible until eventually he was out of endings that had a good outcome, and then Henry suddenly realized that the entity had been manipulating the good endings into terrible ones. The entity then smirked and then gave an evil laugh and then revealed to Henry that yes, he had indeed ruined all of his good endings because he felt that Henry hadn't earned them due to being an idiot that relied on the entity being able to revive him as a crutch otherwise he never would have lived long enough to meet the people he cared about such as Charles and Ellie due to killing himself all the way back at breaking the bank.
The entity then gives Henry a sadistic choice, he chooses from the three worst endings possible in Completing The Mission, Revenged, Valiant Hero, or Toppat Civil Warfare. Henry then chooses Toppat Civil Warfare and then Henry ends his story to Ellie explaining that is how he got himself in the situation he is in. Ellie is still angry at Henry however as she asked why didn't Henry take one of the other two endings instead of the route they are in right now. Henry explains that he didn't take the Revenged route because he would have ended up killing all of the Toppats which he didn't want to do and he would also be committing suicide in the process since he died in that ending. Ellie sees why Henry didn't take that route but then demands an explanation as to why Henry didn't take Valiant Hero instead. Henry then tearfully shouts out that its because Charles died that he didn't want to take it and explained to Ellie that herself and Charles were the only friends he had ever had in his life and couldn't bear losing Charles forever. Henry then asks Ellie what would she do and when she doesn't respond Henry demands an answer again which causes Ellie to lose control and shout out that she would have done it too, before calming down and repeating that she would have done what Henry had chosen too. While Ellie now sees Henry in a more sympathetic light, she still wants proof that Henry had indeed gone through different timelines.
Henry then gives her what he wants and tells her that he and her were once in a romantic relationship which Ellie doesn't believe in the slightest, she then shifts her focus onto telling Henry to give her proof that she and him were in a relationship. Henry then tells her that he knew about her force powers but Ellie counters that argument, telling Henry that it only proves she and him met each other so Henry tries more persuasive information. He reveals that he knew Ellie's motivation for starting a life of crime as her family needed money and her brother named Jacob's job as a museum guard wasn't enough to pay everything and her sister had gotten a disease and was in the hospital which Henry further proves his knowledge by telling he did it for both of them but especially for her sister. Ellie starts trembling in fear as she never told anyone in her life this secret before outside of her family members. But Ellie wanted one last thing to be absolutely sure and that was asking Henry what her sister's name was. Ellie then threatened to kill Henry if she didn't get an answer of him but Henry just calmly stared at her and said her sisters name was "Velvet. Sapphire. Rose" which finally convinced Ellie that she and Henry were indeed lovers in a separate timeline.
Henry is then released and taken to a solitary confinement cell for a few days after an elderly Toppat member named Albert Poshley had convinced Ellie, Mr Macbeth, and Arnold Schwartz that Henry hadn't lied about his story and over the course of a few days, he comes up with a plan to reform the Toppats by allying with the government, turning the Toppat space station into a special casino and hotel for others to attend, and finally regaining the respect of his Toppat allies so that he can rise back up the ranks and assist Ellie and the other Toppats to make sure that the action heavy ones can do bounty hunting work for the government or the more technological ones can assist the Toppats with creating their new space station.
After the course of a month or two, Henry and the Toppats have finally gotten his plan into action and have turned the Toppat space station into a casino and hotel to attend, the Toppat's are now working with the government to take down other criminal organizations, and Henry had been given the rank of Ellie's right hand man and Henry had met Charles again during his trip to the space station but Henry couldn't act like he knew him as Charles wouldn't have remembered previous timelines like Henry had but instead Henry just tried to get along with him regardless.
Henry and Ellie then get a call from General Hubert Galeforce, congratulating the Toppats for their success on taking down the Crimson Coyotes organization and letting them know they can keep some of the bounty money for themselves. Galeforce then asks Henry how was Charles doing in the casino, Henry then replies that Charles had just won big at the table and Galeforce thought it was about time Charles had won due to his immense luck on all of his missions he had taken and before Galeforce leaves the call, he tells Henry he will be sure to give Charles his congratulations later on.
Henry and Ellie then go to Ellie's personal quarters and Ellie then asks Henry how things would have turned out if the entity allowed him to pick a better timeline to go ahead from, Henry then reassures her that those timelines don't matter anymore and that the timeline they had both created was the best one they could have come out with as the Government and Toppats were now allied with each other, Dimitri Petrov had gotten what he deserved along with his loyalists, and Charles was still alive. The two then give each other a kiss on the cheek each before the fic ends with Henry looking back on his past which was filled with tragedy and rough experiences but pushes that aside and as he thinks about the future, he feels there is a bright future for both Henry Stickmin and Ellie Rose together.
Appearance[]
Henry takes on an identical appearance to his original counterpart, being a thin stick like figure that sports brown boots.
