Mario (specifically known as I HATE YOU Mario in this case) is a minor titular character in the Friday Night Funkin' mod, Mario's Madness, serving as the main protagonist of Oh God No and a cameo character in I Hate You.
He is the older twin brother of Luigi and hero to the Mushroom Kingdom. However, he is forced to fight his brother on one of his adventures upon learning that he has secretly been working as a double agent for his arch-nemesis, Bowser.
Appearance[]
Mario has peach skin, black hair and blue eyes. His attire consists of a reddish-pink shirt under light blue overalls with gold buttons, a reddish-pink cap with a similarly colored "M" on the white patch on the front and a black brim. He also has white gloves and reddish pink shoes with golden yellow undersides.
Personality[]
Due to not talking and only appearing for just one song, Mario's personality is ambiguous for the most part. That being said, it's evident that he is a kind and caring individual, and was horrified upon learning that Luigi harbored an immense animosity towards him from always being left inside his shadow. In contrast to his brother during their fight, Mario was notably more disappointed than he was angry by how things were transpiring between them. In the aftermath of the encounter that results in Luigi falling into the lava below, he stares on before leaving with tears in his eyes. This shows that, despite everything, Mario still loved Luigi and was heartbroken by his fate.
It is also important to note that in the original ROM, he has no feelings for him as he murders him in cold blood after defeating him unlike the executable version where rather than a boss fight in the ROM, a cutscene plays where after beating Luigi he accidentally pushes him into the lava, this version seems to take more on the latter version.

Background[]
It's assumed that, up until the events of the mod, Mario's life was parallel to that of his mainline counterpart's, traveling with his brother to save Princess Peach from Bowser. Unbeknownst to him, however, Luigi was affiliated with the latter, having gotten fed up of being his second banana for so long, and was part of his schemes that involved kidnapping Peach out of hope that he would get killed in the process, to no avail.
Oh God No[]
After traveling through a decrepit sunken ship, Mario eventually ended up in the interior of a castle. There, he encounters Luigi, who then reveals his true colors as Bowser's assistant and fights him via rap battle to the death, despite Mario's visible sadness and reluctance to the matter. After a grueling battle, Mario winds up being the victor as Luigi falls into the lava beneath them.
I Hate You[]
Mario briefly appears in the opening cutscene of the song, staring at Luigi's cap in the lava (which is somehow buoyant). After a few seconds, a devastated Mario would then leave the area with tears in his eyes. Unknown to him, Luigi survived, albeit as a charred corpse desiring revenge. However, he was kept from confronting his brother by a rapper named Boyfriend, who promptly knocked him back into the lava after beating him.
It's not made clear what happened to Mario afterwards as he is never seen again, though it can be assumed that he continued his current adventure and rescued Princess Peach from Bowser. Though judging from the experience he had with Luigi, it's likely he would remain very traumatized and depressed by what he was forced to do.
Trivia[]
- It's unknown if Mario pushed Luigi into the lava accidentally out of self-defense like in the the original creepypasta or purposefully pushed him in like in the ROM hack. Given his saddened expression by Luigi's fate in I Hate You, it's implied to be the former.
- His vocals are sampled from Walker Boone, the voice actor for Mario from The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World.
- He's one of the few playable characters in the mod that isn't Boyfriend, the other being Pico, Luigi's Day Out Luigi and (to an extent) his Too Late.exe counterpart.
