Dr. Jackson "Doc" Thorne (21st of February, 1943 - 25th of July, 2026) was a major character in the Jurassic Cinematic Saga.

He was supporting character for The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park: Edge of Chaos and Jurassic World: Dominion. He also appeared as one of the main characters of Jurassic World: Dino Crisis season 2.

Jack Thorne, usually known as “Doc”, was the owner of Thorne Mobile Field Systems in Woodside. He was once a professor of applied engineering at Stanford University, known for his “Thorny Problems”, but quit when the field of academics began to change. He constructed the multiple vehicles Richard Levine ordered for the Isla Sorna expedition, and later took them to Sorna himself to rescue Levine with the help if Ian Malcolm and Sarah Harding. He was the survivor of both Isla Sorna Incidents, a hero of San Diego in 1997 and one of the unfortunate but heroic victims of the BioSyn Incident of 2023.

Personality[]

Jack Thorne is shown to be a highly intelligent, cunning, patient, formidable and caring person, he is also a highly skilled investigator and engineer. He just does what's necessary to keep himself and his boss safe, with a minimum of ego-tripping and drama. Thorne is well known for being pragmatic and rational, always taking the best choice that benefits everyone with the minor danger.

Despite being older than most of people involved, Mike's experience as a soldier gives him far more advantage than people think about him, usually being underestimated due to his advanced age and being "retired". He has demonstrated an extreme devotion to protect the people around him, even willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of their safety which lead to his tragic, yet heroic death at the claws of one of the Utahraptors in Jurassic World: Dominion. His protective nature lead to Richard Levine sarcastically calling him "Dad" sometimes, however this didn't seem to annoy Thorne that much, instead smiling about it.

Thorne was extremely good at reading people and was one of the few people to recognize Ed James for the dangerous he was and was severely vary of him. He utterly despised people like Peter Ludlow, Dr. Laura Sorkin, Simon Masrani, Dr. Henry Wu and Dr. Lewis Dodgson for playing god and bringing so much harm to not only the dinosaurs, but also other people as well. Although he criticized John Hammond for playing god as well, and some of his poor choices, he deeply respected the fact that in the end Hammond was willing to admit his mistakes and tried to make attempts to not have anyone harm the dinosaurs or have the dinosaurs harm anyone. He was deeply annoyed by Richard Levine's and Ian Malcolm's constant arguing throughout The Lost World: Jurassic Park, despite this he respected both for their talents and intelligence, eventually forming a sort of "Father-Son" relationship with Levine, even motivating the man when Levine became incredibly depressed and paranoid during the events on Isla Sorna in 1997.

Despite not being fond of game hunters, in an odd way, he deeply respected Roland Tembo due to both being old professionals being voices of reason during the failed expeditions on Sorna. When Tembo was mourning his friend, the late Ajay Sidhu and expressed immense guilt for the T.rex being brought to Isla Sorna, Thorne motivated him and convinced him to help him and Ian's team bring the dinosaur back to the SS Venture to be brought back to it's home island.
