It’s Cleanup Time!! |
Jack Kennedy, also referred to as Orange Guy or Old Sport by Dave Miller, is the main protagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's fangame series Dayshift at Freddy's.
He seems, at first glance, a chaotic worker at Freddy's, but is really in a mission to save the murdered children at the various establishments, which he follows through with in the Good Routes of each game. However, in the evil routes, he can join Dave in murdering children to shut down Freddy's.
Jack is voiced in the Dayshift at Freddy's 3 endings by Dylan Fisher.
Biography[]
Dayshift at Freddy's[]
Jack arrived at the Freddy's location under a fake name, and signed a contract that trapped him at Freddy's permanently. In the Saferoom, he met Dave Miller, who offered an opportunity to get out of his contract by murdering five children to shut Freddy's down. In the Good Ending Jack doesn't accept it and decides to save the children by completing certain objectives like re-activating then play the "Happiest Day" arcade game in the arcade room (using a wrench that costs 150 tokens). The game will have the Puppet tell him it's too late to save them and will hint what he needs to do to save the kids.
The next day, after hearing Phone Guy's spiel, Jack started playing the song that Freddy loves the most, the song "Never Gonna Give You Up." Bonnie liked having a face, so he found his face and put it back on Bonnie, Chica loved Pepperoni Pizza, so he baked a pepperoni pizza in the kitchen and served it. Foxy hated salad, so he bought a crowbar and destroyed the salad bar in the pirate cove, and Golden Freddy loved blowing up toilets, so he bought a firecracker and blow up the restroom's urinal.
For each child soul he saved, a ghastly apparition of the character will appear behind the marionette, who will then tell you the children will bid you farewell at day 5's party. During Day 5, Farfour will escape during the sting operation, assumed to be sent to kill you from Dave, but you will be saved by Fredbear, then given the option to leave for the "Happiest day", Confusing Phone Guy.
The game will end with the kid souls being happy you brought them cake and acknowledged their meaningless deaths before becoming animatronics again and fading away into oblivion.
Soapy Ending[]
In this ending, Jack will be send to prison because of either Phone Guy framing you or Dave ratting you out and Phone guy framing you, if you worked with Dave). It is supposed that Jack was either bailed out or his sentence was short enough for him to be released, due to this ending being an option in DSAF 2.
Crafty Ending[]
In this ending, it is required to get favor from Phone Guy, by either dealing with the Health Inspector with violence, or stopping bullies from putting Mike Jr's head into the mouth of a robot. You will also need to get involved into Dave's plan and releasing only one of the robots. Different from the evil route Soapy ending, Phone Guy will join your side, framing Dave, and afterwards Dave will be arrested, showing the exact same picture as the Soapy ending, but instead with Dave instead of Jack.
Dayshift at Freddy's 2[]
Jack took a job at the Bakersfield Freddy's location, there he reencountered Dave in the Saferoom, and denied his proposal for the second time. To do the The apparent <nowiki>"True Ending", you must complete the Phone Guy and Puppet's Route.
After DaveTrap busts out of the Saferoom, the Real Fredbear takes him on and defeats him in the Good Ending. Afterwards, Old Sport enters the Happiest Day scene, and as an adult who worked for Fazbender Entertainment, is able to apologise to the children for their cut short lives, allowing them to ascend. After giving a farewell hug to the Puppet, Jack walks out, and in the best ending he arrives at Peter's house in the pouring rain, admitting he has nowhere else to go now. Peter and Caroline invite him in, giving him a new home.
Dayshift at Freddy's 3[]
When at the Utah Location (second location), Jack can either salvage or not salvage DaveTrap, but must decline his offer on the third day.
Jack will then be able to complete the final three Flipside segments. The third one includes Jack, Dave and Dee saving Steven, who is the phone guy from the first game. The 4th segment includes Jack, Dave, Dee and Steven going one layer deeper to save Peter Kennedy, the Phone guy from DSaF 2. Jack also confronts Shadow Doggo, who is revealed to be named Blackjack, the stray soul of Jack. after this, the 5th and final segment includes Jack, Dave, Dee, Steven, Peter and Blackjack all going into the void to confront Henry and an new enemy called Spite. During this fight, Jack and the group are tasked to defeat all four spites, and each time a spite is defeated, Henry will tell one of Jack's party members something that causes them to die (in order: Steven, Peter, Dee, Blackjack, Dave). He'll attempt to use it on Old Sport last, but it doesn't affect him, and Jack proceeds to use "Give Life" reviving, healing the entire party but himself for 600 HP. After that, a cutscene will occur, which shows the gang attacking Henry one final time before he dies. The gang gives their final words to Jack, and Dee, Steven, and Peter ascend to the afterlife. Before Dave ascends, he tells Jack he doesn't want to go because he would miss Jack if he does so. Jack gives him Blackjack so that Dave always has Jack with him. The game then shows Jack, outside of the Flipside, standing in his restaurant as he watches DaveTrap and the other animatronics burn. While Jack slowly dies as well, The Real Fredbear will be seen, happy that Jack fulfilled his Promise. Jack gets engulfed in flames and dies.
A newsflash is shown afterwards where the news reporter Alan Johnson talks about the aftermath of the burn, where it's revealed that Jack kept a fire-proof will on him, which requested that his land be converted into a graveyard dedicated the victims, and five gravestones in particular to erected so that they would be remembered for who they really were. These gravestones are for Steven, Peter, Dee, himself, and William.
Trivia[]
- Jack goes by whatever the player name themselves in each game, with the in-universe explanation being that this is his alias.
- If the player does the most evil ending the DSaF 2, Shadow Doggo offers Jack the chance to abandon his evil legacy. If the player accepts and does the good route, some dialogue is changes that directly acknowledges that he is working towards redemption.
- Dayshift at Freddy's 3 does not lead on from any one ending, as Jack is seen still living at Peter and Caroline's house after their passing, but also remembers working with Dave.
- The eventual explanation as to why Jack is so easily persuaded to become a child murderer is due to his soulless nature.
- After DSaF 3 ends, and you'll get a thank you message from DrectDogman (if you've activated an Easter Egg name, such as Markiplier for example, it would say "Thank you, Mark," or Dawko, where it'll say: "thank you, Dawkman").
