~ John Bishop's last words before his execution and also silently declares his retirement from vigilantism. |
John Bishop, a.k.a. the Ultimate Vigilante, is the anti-heroic protagonist of the horror-comedy fanfic Danganronpa: Case Despair, the final installment of the Danganronpa Virtual Trilogy. He is a murderous vigilante who gets invited to the last killing game and is determind to stop it. He ends up being the culprit of the fifth class trial and gets himself executed so the remaining participants will live without him and finish this game.
Early Life[]
When John was a child, he was neglected and abused by his dysfunctional parents, who hated each other but hated him even more. They claim that he can't report them because they bribed the police, which he learned the hard way that it was true. The reason they hate him is because they didn't want a child nor a son and they see him as a useless burden that they had to take care of because his grandparents loved him and wanted the couple to raise him. He hated his parents for how they treated him and even refused to address them as his family. He did meet Dialla McNeely and befriended her. He told her about what was happening and why he can't report it but Dialla doesn't know how to help him and claims it to be tough love. Upset over not getting help, he decided to do something about it. When his parents were planning to leave him alone in the house to go on a trip, he cut their brakes and caused them to die in a car crash.
He was sent to live with his grandparents and his younger cousin Jane Bishop. He loved Jane so much that he adopted her as his little sister. She loved him back and looked up to him as her big brother.
During the years, he was loyal to his family but couldn't get out of trouble because he beat up some school thugs who were bullying Jane and threatened them. However, his family were proud of him for standing up for one of his own relatives.
He did see Dialla again and she was sympathetic towards him about his parents' deaths but was shocked that he could care less about them because he points out that they hated him since his birth. She tried to get him to mourn for them but he flat out told her that he hated them and always well. He also hoped that they are in Hell for how they treated him and he can't forgive them for their selfishness and cruelty. He then walked away from her in anger.
When he started noticing crime and saw how the cops were bribed, he decided to take justice and wipe any criminal that is irredeemable. He became a legendary vigilante and hunted down the most hated criminals but spared those who were framed.
In the public eye, he is seen as a hero but the law saw him as a murderer who has no right to decide who dies and should still be put behind bars. However, Hope's Peak scouted him and invited him to the school as the Ultimate Vigilante.
At Hope's Peak, him and Jane attended there but Dialla discovered his talent and finally found out the truth about the deaths of his parents and the criminals. She angrily rejects him and declares him as a murderer, leaving him heartbroken and betrayed.
At some point, he saw an innocent man get shot by corrupt officers that were hired by a dangerous crime lord. However, he saw that the man's son Ben Hardy was hiding and saved him by silently telling him to stay hidden and quiet.
During his time, a concerned mother hired him to investigate her eldest daughter Anna. When they investigated, they were horrified and disgusted that Anna's been sexually abusing her younger brother Arnie Grace. They reported this to the public and Anna was sent to a mental asylum for what she did. He befriended Arnie and comforted him over this. He also invited him to Hope's Peak as the Ultimate Youngling.
In Hope's Peak, John was sometimes hated for being a vigilante but got along with Ben, Arnie, Jane, Ovan Yates, Tina Terror, and Timmy Danger. He also idolized his teacher Max Gate, who saw good in him.
He accepted Ovan, Tina, and Timmy for their past and decided to help them be redeemed but gets in arguments with Dialla over his actions due to the point that he longer likes her anymore.
