Mario Mario, otherwise known as Mario, is the elder brother of Luigi and the main protagonist of 'Mario Madness Lyrical Cover' by Dwerbi. He's also the heroic protagonist of the song 'Oh God No' and makes a cameo in 'I Hate You'.
He is Luigi's elder twin brother, a beloved Mushroom Kingdom hero dedicated to saving the day. Unbeknownst to Mario, Luigi had been working for Bowser after allowing his jealousy to get the better of him and is forced to fight and kill Luigi after failing to reach out to him.
He is voiced by JaidenBoyfriend.
Background[]
It can be assumed Mario's backstory was the same prior to the events of the song as his canon counterpart, fighting to rescue Princess Peach alongside his brother and protect the Mushroom Kingdom. However, at some point, Luigi's resentment towards being Mario's secondary, which had been stewing for years, came to light and worked behind his brother's back for an unknown period.
Appearance[]
Mario has peach skin, black hair, and blue eyes with a mustache. He wears blue overalls with a red hat and undershirt along with golden buttons. He holds a microphone in his left hand with, white gloves and red shoes with gold trim at the bottom.
Personality[]
Mario is a kind and caring individual, and his lyrics showcase that Mario is beyond devastated and disappointed not only in Luigi but also in himself for not noticing the signs of Luigi's downfall and trying to understand the reason behind his brother's treachery.
Whilst a caring hero, Mario does have his flaws as it is shown in a picture to be neglectful of Luigi due to taking up the spotlight and not noticing his brother's pain. Luigi's lyrics point to Mario being inattentive as it's implied that Luigi tried to reach out to Mario several times about his grievances before betraying him only for Mario not to heed them. It is unknown why Mario didn't listen to Luigi's grievances and cries for attention, but it's likely he simply didn't understand the proportion of his brother's resentment until it was too late. This in turn causes Luigi's downward spiral as whilst Luigi was already insecure, it is implied that Luigi believing Mario did not love him was what truly set him on the path to villainy and made him seek out Bowser. Mario does feel bad for this, as he seems to realize albeit too late that he did fail Luigi and tries to make amends to no avail and tries to take responsibility for his inattentive behavior.
Despite his disappointment, Mario loved Luigi despite his heinous actions and his unintentional neglect, as his final lyric in 'Oh God No' is begging Luigi to forgive him before pushing him into the lava as an act of self-defense. He's even shown shedding a tear after looking at Luigi's burning hat with sad music playing, showing Mario is utterly distraught at having to kill his brother and is regretful things had to end this way and that he wasn't there for him. It is shown Mario did adore Luigi despite his inital carelessness and mourns his death before fleeing the scene.
Oh God No[]
Mario encounters Luigi at the bridge and begins singing after Luigi reveals his true colors. Mario spends most of his lyrics attempting to understand the reason behind Luigi's treachery and expresses dismay at how his brother has fallen and tries to make amends for being neglectful. However, Luigi rejects Mario's attempt at redemption and attempts to throw him into the lava. To save himself, Mario pushes Luigi into the lava, but not before expressing remorse for what he was done to and begging Luigi to forgive him.
I Hate You[]
Mario appears briefly, staring at Luigi's burning hat, visibly saddened by his brother's fate and running away with a tear in his eye. Unbeknownst to Mario, Luigi came back as a mangled and burnt corpse eager for revenge, only to be stopped by Boyfriend who knocks him into the lava to prevent him from coming back to pursue his brother.
Whilst it's unknown what happened to Mario after this, it is likely he rescued Princess Peach and saved the Mushroom Kingdom, albeit at a high cost, and is likely traumatized from having to kill his brother.
