Michael Afton is the main protagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's series by AIEchidna, serving as the overarching antagonist of Nightmare, the overarching protagonist of Withered, the main protagonist of Refurbished and Springlocked, and finally the main deutragonist of Finale.
Starting off as a bully, after the events of the Bite of 83', he changed his goal and decided to journey on a decades-long mission to free Evan, ending up in something much more deadly, eventually becoming the archenemy of the brown bear himself.
Appearance[]
In his youth, he had a white undertone with a grey shirt and blue shorts, sporting an infamous Foxy mask, one he would later grow to hate.
As he reached his adult years, he would wear a purple shirt (similar to his father) and baggy grey pants. These clothes grew more worn as he became older, eventually well into his late 50s.
History[]
1980s[]
Michael, (implied to be an unwanted and unloved child), would be severely neglected, along with his younger brother, Evan. This led to an unhealthy scenario where Michael would constantly torment Evan, leading Evan to have many nightmares of the animatronics he loved so dearly.
All of this would escalate on the day of Evan's tenth birthday, where Michael and his group of friends would "prank" Evan by throwing him into Fredbear's mouth, which would crush Evan's brain, killing him a few days later.
This would reveal to be traumatic to Michael, as he would move out as soon as he turned eighteen, not to return until 1987, in which he wore the guise of Fritz Smith.
As he worked at the 1987 location, he would end up aiding a guard known as Jeremy Fitzgerald, eventually becoming his co-worker in a secondary office. However, Freddy Fazbear, the leader of the animatronics, would take a lead interest in Michael, and go after him specifically.
One night, Jeremy would be caught by Freddy and stuffed into a suit. During the conflict, however, Michael, for his own safety, hung up the phone, to avoid Freddy's wrath. This would cause Jeremy to possess Shadow Bonnie's suit and start following Michael around during the rest of his shifts. All the while, Michael is taunted by Freddy and Nightmare. After the third night of his shift, he is forced to monitor a party, where it's implied he was the victim of the Bite of 87'.
1990-2010s[]
Years later, in 1993, Michael enters the new Freddy's and takes the night shift once again, meeting Freddy and his pals.
