Hero Overview

But it wasn't your fault anyway. And, actually, it's no one's fault. It's not your dad's fault either, but... his mind is very limited. And it's not my fault I liked you... just like it's not your fault you liked me.
~ Pedro to Virgínia, forgiving her for having told her father about their relationship.

Pedro Afonso Rezende Posso, simply known as Pedro, is the main protagonist of rezendeevil's 2018 romance YouTube miniseries Apaixonados (In Love).

He is a young adult part of a poor family who studies and works to help them and who accidentally fell in love with the wealthy Virgínia while comforting her, but had to face her father, Mr. Palomino, and her sister, Ana Mosconi, who were obstacles for both of them who didn't approve their romantic interests.

He was portrayed by the eponymous youtuber rezendeevil/Pedro Rezende himself.

Trailer (Non-Canon)[]

In the trailer, Pedro is initially sweeping the sidwalk in front of what's-assumed-to-be his house when he sees Virgínia driving by in her car and falls in love with her. After that, Pedro goes to her house wanting to talk to her but Virgínia says that he shouldn't be there because she already told him her father didn't like her talking to people like him, which implies they had more encounters before that very moment. Pedro kept suggesting they didn't need to talk there but elsewhere, then Virgínia's father comes and sends her back inside saying he'd told her not to talk to him and closes the door at Pedro, who leaves saddened.

Personality[]

Pedro was always caring towards his family. Ever since he became a legal adult, he was always willing to hel-p his family by having a job and helping in their financial problems. Pedro Rezende has already worked taking care of pools, gardening, fixing some light electricity problems (as the heavier problems needed to be taken care of by expert electricians) and as a janitor. He also shows to be very determined as he was in the midst of his studies and still wanted to have a job at the same time for his family's sake, which Palomino even congratulates him for. He also was willing to preserve his aunt Vilma's place by working in her place at Palomino's mansion, which was also a good opportunity for him to finally have a new job.

He is also selfless and caring towards others who deserve some comfort. He clearly displays that once he hears Virgínia crying alone in her room and couldn't help himself but going in to know what was troubling her and wanted to help with whatever it was. He initially thought of letting it go, as Virgínia had asked him in the heat of the moment to leave her alone, but he was just too worried with her. Once she finally revealed the reason for her sorrow (which was a boy called Guilherme, whom she had a crush on but ended up betraying her trust), he sat right beside her and started comforting her, telling that some men in the world would initially seem like friendly but, in the end, would reveal their actual selves and betray the trust of anybody, also telling her that she shouldn't feel sad for him since he was the one deliberately wanting to hurt her feelings, and that there are many other boys out there who would pay anything to be with her. He also advises her that, especially at those moments, she should look at the ones beside her who love her most, like her family. His selflessness is shown to be great to the point of him falling in love with Virgínia accidentally, for which he somewhat knew he may get himself in trouble, but wanted to risk it not just for his crush on Virgínia, but mainly to give her some more chances for her to unwind and talk her feelings out with someone.

He also shows to be respectful in many cases. Even when Virgínia's sister Ana Mosconi keeps constantly walking over him and being excessively rude to him, he still treats her with respect and doesn't hit on her for her behavior. The time he finally tried to speak with her, he still didn't show any anger on her and tried to talk in a civilized manner, but, sadly, she kept bellitling him for his poverty. Another example is when Palomino scolds him twice for liking Virgínia, where Palomino kept inssisting that they could not have a romantic relationship because of the discrepancy of their financial situations. Even with Palomino being close-minded at the time, Pedro still treated him with respect and tried to convince him that his poverty wasn't much of an excuse to keep them from dating and even used the example of when he comforted Virgínia because of Guilherme and that she shouldn't deserve men like him for her to be in love with, but Palomino interpreted it as merely something she goes through every week. Even with Palomino not accepting his initiative to help his daughter, going as far as firing him the second time he talked to him in order to prevent him from meeting Virgínia ever again, Pedro simply kept his head down and followed along with his decision, although reluctantly.

The second time Pedro meets Virgínia, after being fired by Palomino, he admits he was sad with all that, but he ultimately forgives everybody who didn't approve their relationship. When Virgínia apologizes to him, he says that it's not her fault for wanting to talk to her father about it since it would, from some perspective, be a good idea to admit their interests to one another to him. He also says that, although Palomino was very close-minded, it wasn't his fault for being like that. He also says that it wasn't her fault she liked him, just like it wasn't his fault he started liking her.

Appearance[]

Pedro has brown eyes, short brown hair with its top longer and shallow cut on the sides and dyed blond, also having tattoos on his fingers, the left side on the back of his neck and two stripes ones on his left arm. Almost throughout the entire series, Pedro wears the same clothing. A white shirt with a printed picture of a palm tree landscape during either a sunrise or sunset, with writings on its borders, a chain necklace barely seen on the back of his neck, dark blue-green shorts and white and black sneakers. By the end of the series, he is now wearing black shoes, a white shirt, but with a golden printed picture on its front, consisted by a square with a diagonal line within and ADR written over it and inside the square, referencing rezendeevil's own real brand called ADR (which stands for Aliança Do Rezende, or Rezende's Alliance in english), while seemingly maintaining the same shorts.

Relationships[]

Virgínia[]

Since the beginning, Pedro and Virgínia have always been friendly with each other. At first, Pedro and Virgínia would not seem like they could get into a relationship and would be just good friends. That changes, however, when Pedro goes to comfort her after she was cheated on by her crush Guilhermer, who ended up dating another of Virgínia's best friends. He did his best to make her feel better and calm her down and told her that she didn't need to worry about men like Guilherme, who would boast about himself if he learned of Virgínia's sorry, as stated by Pedro himself. After that, he unintentionally fell in love with her and thought about asking her out. Much to his luck, Virgínia accepted going out with him and both would converse from time to time, as well giving Virgínia more chances for her to talk about her feelings and sorrows. Despite all the obstacles he had to go through, such as Mr. Palomino not tolerating his relationship with Virgínia and Ana being constantly xenophobic to him, both end up together and Pedro and Virgínia become boyfriend and girlfriend.

Letícia[]

Another luck for Pedro is Virgínia's best friend Letícia, also someone whom he was very friendly with reciprocally. Unlike Virgínia's family, she always supported their relationship as a couple and wished the best for them. The first time Pedro saw her, he already knew she was very different from the rest, as in tolerance and charisma, so he felt comfortable in telling her about his crush on Virgínia while also wanting her to keep it a secret. They keep being friends with each other, although Letícia told Virgínia about his crush on her, but with no bad intentions and which only boosted their chances of dating. Despite telling Virgínia, Pedro is very grateful for what she was doing to get them together, to which she playfully refers herself as their cupid.

Mr. Palomino[]

Pedro has a big respect towards his boss-turned-father-in-law Anderson Palomino. Aside his reluctance in not allowing Pedro to date Virgínia, they still had a good relationship. Palomino liked Pedro because of the things he's heard about him, especially from his former sick caretaker, who is also Pedro's aunt, Vilma, who suggested Pedro to work for him in her place. Pedro and Palomino are very friendly to each other, as well as respectful when it comes to Pedro's work at his house and Palomino never had any complaints as for that. However, Palomino was the main obstacle between Pedro and Virgínia's relationship. Palomino didn't like the fact Pedro comforted her when she was sad, trying to justify his disapproval saying she already had great psychologists to talk to. The second time, which was where he fired Pedro, he still remained lawfully respectful and had gotten a lawyer to take care of his financial matters after his resignation. His disapproval continues until Virgínia threatens to run away from home because she couldn't handle him stripping her of her happiness unnecessarily, but with that, Palomino second guesses his intentions and allows their relationship to happen. He appreciates the love Pedro has for his daughter and is really glad that he wishes the best for her, which also led to Palomino offering a place for him in his enterprise, knowing Pedro had no job at that moment.

Ana Mosconi[]

Ana Mosconi is the one who Pedro has most trouble being accepted by. In fact, she never accepted him as part of them, not even when she was first presented to him where he greeted her but she didn't greet back in the very least. Even when Pedro was simply the new caretaker of their house, she kept dehumanizing him and treating him like she was superior due to his poverty and, for that, constantly referring to him as "white trash" with an insulting intention. The fact Pedro kept treating her with his well-learned respect is what makes her even more despicable, since she doesn't see him as worthy of being treated as one of them simply because of his poverty, as she states that herself when Pedro asks why she hated him so much despite him having done nothing wrong with them. Even after everything she did and called him, when Ana was finally grounded by Palomino for her behavior towards him and Virgínia, he didn't take any pleasure in it, unlike Virgínia who was right beside him.

Quotes[]

Okay, but... maybe we could talk.
~ Pedro in the trailer.
Hi, how are you?
~ Pedro's first line in the first episode.
And it's quite big, from what I saw in the photos.
~ Pedro complimenting Palomino's house.
I'm gonna be very honest. I've never worked, like... like a janitor, y'know? In a house. But... I've already taken care of pools... gardens too... all those chores, I do have an experience with them. But I'm very interested, because... I've been a while without working, and my family needs it.
~ Pedro explaining Palomino about his professional knowledge.
Virgínia: *crying in her room*
Pedro: Uhh... Virgínia...?
Virgínia: Yes...?
Pedro: A-Are you okay?
Virgínia: ...Yes.
Pedro: Do you need anything?
Virgínia: No.
Pedro: But I can hear you crying.
Virgínia: Get out, Pedro
~ Pedro hearing Virgínia crying before comforting her.
Pedro: Are you alright?
Virgínia: Pedro... I told you to get out.
Pedro: I'm sorry, it's that I heard you crying there and I thought... maybe I could help.
Virgínia: Something really sad happened...
Pedro: Huh?
Virgínia: Something really sad happened.
Pedro: What happened?
Virgínia: I was- I was I was almost dating a guy... but now he wants me no more.
~ Virgínia telling Pedro why she was sad.
I'm sorry, it's that I heard you crying there and I thought... maybe I could help.
~ Pedro upon seeing Virgínia crying.
Maybe you... like him a lot... so you can't see some things, but it's that... if he... really liked you, he wouldn't do that to you, because he'd know it would upset you. Like it just did. Now look at you. You're very beautiful, you've got a very nice family, a father who, from what I saw, gives you so much attention.
~ Pedro starting to comfort Virgínia.
People are like this. Like... sometimes we think... it's going to work or... that one if for the other, but... maybe the other person doesn't deserve you, get it? So... you don't need to be like this... if he... HE is causing all this, y'know? Just look at yourself and see... you're super young. You still have a long life ahead of you. Try to get over it. Even because, if he finds it out, he's probably gonna think he is the... badass. But he ain't. I shouldn't even be telling you this, but I've been through somethink alike, and... But it was the opposite. So, I know it's complicated and... it hurts. But I also know it goes away. So... now that you're upset, you should focus in your life's good things.
~ Pedro's motivational speech to Virgínia, telling her not to worry about the guy who cheated on her.
I heard her crying yesterday, and I just couln't help but to help her out. Like... help her feel better and stop crying. So... I was thinking in maybe asking her out.
~ Pedro telling about his crush on Virgínia to a friend over the phone.
I'm only down to the living room down there and the toilet down there too. Then, if you want to go out with me to talk, maybe have an ice cream... anything like that, so you can... just go out to talk to someone, because I see you got no one to talk to, right?
~ Pedro asking Virgínia out.
Mr. Palomino: What were you doing in my daughter's room?
Pedro: With Virgínia?
Palomino: Yes.
Pedro: I just talked to her.
Palomino: Are you a psychologist now?!
Pedro: No, why?
Palomino: You think it's acceptable to talk to my daughters in their own rooms?
~ Pedro being scolded by Palomino for talking to Virgínia.
Ana: Let me ask you a thing. Do you really think you'll go out with my sister?! Or do you think I didn't hear you two talk?
Pedro: I know you did, you told your dad.
Ana: Yes, I did.
Pedro: No, I didn't even want to.
Ana: My dear... don't be fooled. Just look at yourself! What is my sister gonna want with you? For God's sake!
Pedro: I didn't wanna go out with her, she just told me she was sad and crying and I said she could unburden with me.
Ana: Then watch yourself. Watch yourself, please. Okay?!
~ Pedro confronting Ana over the time he wanted to help her.
If I didn't need the job and the money that much, I would have already quit, y'know?
~ Pedro explaining to Virgínia that he would have already resigned because of Palomino and Ana if he didn't need his current job so much.
Actually it's that... we talked more these days, we even met outside of here... Because she was sad with what happened about a guy who had left her and all. Then I talked to her more and more ever since. And maybe I confused things a little, and that's why I'm... talking to you, because... like... Yeah, I think I like her.
~ Pedro confessing his love for Virgínia to Letícia.
Pedro: If I'm close to her, it's because I'm taking care of the room or anything alike. But I don't get why you're so mad at me even if I haven't done anything to you.
Ana: Why? It's because you're poor! You want me to say again?!
Pedro: Does it even define character?
Ana: Of course it does, mister!
~ Pedro discovers Ana's xenophobia.
Well, actually, I like you. I've liked you... Since that day you were upset because of that... other guy, I... began to like you, but... I can't.
~ Pedro finally confessing his feelings to Virgínia, but still in reluctance because of Palomino and Ana.
Actually... The reality is that... I really began to like... Virgínia. I began to like your daughter. But it was unintentionally.
~ Pedro upon being confronted by Palomino over his feelings for Virgínia.
But I knew we would be together anyway. BUT like I said: all thanks to you. You went there and... faced your dad, for both of us.
~ Pedro congratulating Virgínia for fighting for their relationship.
Well, that's what I want. I want to... make her happy, be by her side. I've never liked someone that much as I like her, so... I would never want to see her... sad or upset. So, if it's up to me, she'll certainly be the happiest girl in the world.
~ Pedro promising Virgínia's happiness to Palomino.

Trivia[]

  • The series could be represented as a symbol of Pedro Rezende's relationship he had with Virgínia Fonseca at the time it was created.
  • Despite depicting a poor character, Pedro's clothes and accessories are somewhat considered what someone richer than him would wear, making him not look as poor as the character actually is.
