Did you ever read about the bond between a mother bear and her cubs? Get near the cubs, she tears your throat out. Get between her and the cubs, she’ll tear you in half. Hurt or upset the cubs……… and she destroys you.
~ Yeah, here's some good advice: Don't hurt Manon or this woman might ruin your life.

Yeah, I think it's pretty safe to assume that, with so many heroes in Miraculous, like Ladybug, Cat Noir, Rena Rouge (who is already PG in canon), Carapace, Viperion, Ryuko or even Vesperia, absolutely NOBODY would expect that Nadja Chamack would soon get a PG proposal. Not that she's a bad person or a bad character, but it's pretty weird that I decided a variation of her could be among the best of the best, but, hey? What fanfic writers don't do.

So, let's quickly discuss this reporter and read the charges.

What's the Work?[]

MAMA BEAR is a Miraculous Ladybug one-shot fanfic writted by OminousPredictions for AO3, telling a original history where Lila Rossi, full of anger for her archenemy, Ladybug, decides do spill out her anger ripping apart a little girl's Ladybug doll. Unfortunately for her, this would come back to bite her in the rear later, as the little girl was Manon, daughter of reporter Nada Chamack, and we all know that angry parents are more dangerous than a laughing Batman.

Who's Nadja Chamack? What Have Her Done?[]

NOTE: This section is basically a copy and paste from her page, but it's okay because I created her page myself, so it's not plagiarism.

Nadja Chamack is Paris's best-known reporter, as well as Manon's seemingly single mother.

One day, Nadja was resting in a park until her daughter Manon came running to her in tears. Concerned, Nadja asked what had happened, and her daughter showed her destroyed Ladybug doll, saying that a girl had destroyed it, pointing at her. With her maternal instincts activated, Nadja chased after the girl, who escaped her. Trying to comfort Manon, Nadja decided to take her doll to Marinette to fix.

They go to the bakery, and while Marinette plays with Manon, Nadja talks to Sabine. From the baker, the reporter learns that the name of the girl who destroyed her daughter's doll was Lila Rossi. Going to speak with Marinette, she learns about the disagreements between the two young women, and Nadja discovers where to find her, with Marinette warning her to be careful.

The next day, she goes looking for Lila at her house and sees the Italian woman leaving, seemingly looking for someone. Curious, Nadja secretly follows her, only to be shocked to see her talking to Hawk Moth himself, discovering that the young woman is working for him and that she intended to create the perfect scenario for him to create another mass akumatization like the one on Heroes' Day, and this time, she would do it by making Marinette an outcast. To which Hawk Moth replies that she better not disappoint him. Lila asks to be akumatized again, to which Hawk Moth accepts, making her Volpina again. Fortunately, Nadja managed to record everything and calls Ladybug, warning her about the Akuma and warning her not to fall for her illusion same time she asks to talk with her and Cat Noir.

After a quick battle with Volpina, the heroic duo meets with Nadja at her home, where the reporter tells her everything she's learned about Lila. The heroes decide to suggest that Marinette skip school on Friday to avoid falling into Lila's trap (with neither Nadja nor Cat Noir knowing she's actually Ladybug) and point out that Marinette can provide more evidence that needs to be handed over to the police. After seeking more information from Marinette, Nadja spends the entire day researching Lila's previous victims and takes the evidence to the police before passing it on to her boss, Arlette, so they can broadcast it on TV.

On Monday, when she appears on TV, Nadja exposes all of Lila's dirty deeds, and she goes to trial and is sentenced to fifteen years of reform, with a possible extension to prison if she doesn't show signs of improvement. While being escorted, Lila sees Nadja in front of the cameras and, in a fit of blind rage, tries to attack (and possibly kill) her. Fortunately, Nadja is warned by her cameraman and defends herself by hitting Lila in the face with her microphone, breaking the Italian's nose. Afterward, Lila is officially taken away from Paris and arrested.

Admirable Standards[]

Ladybug and Cat Noir exist and continue to be the superhero duo that protects Paris from Hawk Moth and akumatized villains every single week, but let's be real, it's pointless and unfair to compare Nadja to them. The Cat Bug duo are the bearers of the most powerful magical gems in existence, granting them supernatural powers, weapons, and superhuman physical attributes. Nadja, even as an adult, is basically just a human with a microphone.

Even with her limited resources, she stands out for uncovering all of Lila's secrets and reporting them to the heroes, the police, and the public, allowing her to be arrested, as well as preventing the Rossi's planned akumatization. If it weren't for her, Lila would have turned Marinette into a pariah and remained at large to this day. She easily stands out in the continuity of this fic.

Mitgating factors[]

Meh, practically none. She's not as obnoxious as the original Nadja, even promising to keep Cat Noir's visit to Marinette a secret, and as much as she hates Hawk Moth and Lila, it's perfectly justified, given what they both did. The punch she gave Lila was in self-defense, and she didn't attack her again after pushing her away.

And okay, there's a line where she says it's implied that if she ever met Hawk Moth, she'd want to shove his cane up his anus, but I'm willing to let that slide because it was just a mere thought that wasn't even completed, and she clearly thought it out of anger. I don't see it as much different from G1's Optimus Prime calling Megatron old or One's Optimus almost giving Darkwing the middle finger. Besides, she didn't even do it anyway, so we can't even say for sure she meant it.

Other than that, no, she has no other factors to discuss.

Final Verdict?[]

You decide.
