Hero Overview

Because I want you to kiss me.
~ Virgínia before she kisses Pedro for the first time.
But if it's meant to be like this, I'm leaving home!
~ Virgínia facing Palomino for not accepting her relationship with Pedro.

Virgínia Fonseca Palomino, simply known as Virgínia, is the deuteragonist of rezendeevil's 2018 romance YouTube miniseries Apaixonados (In Love).

She is a young adult, part of a rich family, who struggles to get her family to accept her romantic affair with the newly hired caretaker of her house Pedro Rezende because of their twisted beliefs that the poor and the wealthy cannot have romantic relationships due to the distant levels of wealth and riches they possess. She is Mr. Palomino's daughter, Ana Mosconi's sister and rival, and Pedro Rezende's girlfriend.

She was portrayed by the eponymous youtuber Virgínia Fonseca.

Trailer (Non-Canon)[]

In the trailer, Virgínia drives by Pedro sweeping the sidewalk and she looks at him as he falls in love with her. At her home, Pedro talks to her at the front door and says to him that he shouldn't be there because her father gets angry at her talking to him. Then her father comes into the scene and tells her to get inside as he closes the door at Pedro. Later, she sits with Letícia by her pool in the back of her house, telling her that she was liking Pedro but was having trouble because her father gets angry at them talking, and also tells about earlier when he came to her house out front but was separated from him by her father. She stays there as Letícia laments the occurrence with her.

Biography[]

Introduction[]

Virgínia was born and grew up with her father Anderson Palomino and her sister Ana Mosconi. The family grew without a mother however, as at one point Virgínia says that she wanted to have someone to talk to and that her mother would be a good option, but she was not present. It is unknown whether the loss of her mother was caused by divorce, abandonment or her death, so she and her sister were raised by Palomino alone. She had the privilege of being part of a wealthy family, so, during her youth, she was apparently spoiled by Palomino, as he shows to always be pleased to buy something for her and even crated a credit card for his daughters to spend money with whatever they wanted.

She became older enough to make many friends in school and also have a crush for a boy called Guilherme, whom she had high hopes to be with as they hung out together along with the rest of their friends. She was having a normal day once but her air conditioner had stopped working, so she goes downstairs to ask her father for help, it was then that she first met Pedro Rezende, who Palomino was interviewing for the job as a caretaker in his house and replace his sick aunt. They greet each other and tells about the air conditioner problem. She asks if Pedro could help with it, Palomino was a little concerned with his availability at the moment, but Pedro agreed to help her nonetheless. They three go to Virgínia's room upstairs, where her sister Ana was and tells them the device had suddenly stopped working and didn't know what to do. After some effort, Pedro manages to reboot the air conditioner for her, which makes her pleased, and she goes back to her bed after saying bye to Pedro, who was starting his new job on the next Monday.

Heartbroken[]

After the weekend, Palomino leaves for work with Virgínia accompanying him, where he tells her to make sure Pedro was doing his job well, to which she agrees. Palomino leaves and Ana goes at her right after, asking where he was to ask him for money so she could shop because she had run out of money in her card. She says that he had just left and that they should settle their problems with Pedro, as suggested by Palomino himself, which unexpectedly enrages Ana and starts saying discriminatory stuff about him. But Virgínia started defending him, saying he was there in charge to help them through any problem they have while their father is out. She goes upstairs while Pedro was looking for the wi-fi router and asks her where it was, and she points it to him and goes to her room. There, she found out that her crush Guilherme started dating one of her best friends, presumably because someone told her by text message, and started crying in sadness, which Pedro hears.

Pedro knocks on her door asking if she was ok and she confirms so only to talk Pedro away from her and leave her alone, but Pedro, in his urge to help her, enters her room anyway. As he enters, she at first complains saying she wanted him to go away, but as he starts asking her what happened, she tells him that she was sad because her crush, whom she was close to dating, didn't want her anymore and that he was now dating another friend of hers. Pedro sits down beside her and comforts her as she continues to cry her sorrows out. He tells her that she shouldn't pay mind to him because he would boast about his attitude of deliberately upsetting her if he found out about her sadness. At one point, he says that she also should focus at the good things she has at a moment of sadness and that there were many bad guys out there, but she yells that he wasn't a bad guy and that there was no reason for him to leave her, but Pedro assures her that there are some people who one might think is ideal to spend time with, but whose true colors would be revealed to them at some point. He also points out that she had an advantage in finding someone else who she could find some interest in since she was beautiful and many men would do anything for her. When he finishes talking, he draws his attention to a drip in her ceiling, which she mentions that could be from the past raining days. He then leaves to let her sleep alone in her room.

New Interest[]

The next day, she was in her bedroom with Ana, who was just telling her about the boys she got interested in and was taking with, also leaving her alone in her room when one of them calls her. Pedro enters right after to place some buckets to stop the leak, accidentally bursting one of the water bubbles in the ceiling. He changes topics and asks Virgínia how she was in regards to what they talked about the previous day, she says she had already gotten over it a bit but which was still trying not to think about. Pedro also tells her his idea of them going out sometime so she has a better opportunity to open herself about her feelings to someone and that they should do so outside Pedro's shift, as he presumes her father wouldn't like much, but Ana overhears it outside her room and goes to tell Palomino.

As expected, Palomino didn't like the idea of them talking so closely, so he first goes to Virgínia's room to talk to her before going to talk to Pedro, who was working at the pool. As Palomino was questioning her, she attempts to explain that Pedro only has had a conversation with her because of her sadness and that he offered her to go out with him so she could talk about her feelings. Palomino wasn't agreeing with it though. He begins telling her that they couldn't have a relationship beyond professionalism and minimal friendship using his poverty as an excuse and that it would be a big cultural shock. Virgínia, irritated with the talk, convinces her father she wouldn't talk to him again, ending their talk and staying alone in her room. She finds Pedro later though, and tells him that it wasn't her who told her father about their talk, and Pedro agreed, but afraid that someone would find them talking there, since Palomino went to talk to Pedro after he did with Virgínia and threatened to fire him if they talked again. To resolve the problem, Virgínia asks Pedro for his number to text him later, and he gives it to her.

While Pedro tidies her living room the next day, she talks to Letícia through phone, telling her the occurrences of the past days. She tells about the time Pedro comforted her out of her sadness because of Guilherme, that Ana heard them talking and went to tell their father, who also was against them going out. But she also was in doubt of what to do from there, and Letícia suggests her to text him and decide what to do mutually with Pedro.

As she was planning, she sends him an audio inviting him to hang out and he replies saying they should meet at plaza where almost no one goes, so they have lower chances of being seen. So they meet at the plaza later, where Pedro gives Virgínia a chance to talk, but she says that nothing much was happening with her beyond her being upset with her father for his behavior towards their relationship, which had not even evolved to romance yet. She also tells that she was no longer talking with the girl who didn't care for her feelings for Guilherme and started dating him anyway, and that was actually good because it told her which of both her and Letícia were her actual friend, who would never betray her trust. Virgínia had nothing much to talk about with Pedro beyond that, but Pedro spoke some of his feelings out as well, such as how he'd have already resigned because of her sister Ana and her hateful attitude with him, but didn't want to because he needed the money to help his family. After the talk, both bid goodbye to each other and went to their homes.

Meddling Sister[]

A while later, she and Ana were talking in the kitchen after their father leaves to see a doctor. Ana was talking about a man she wanted to present her, but Virgínia kept insisting she didn't want any relationship in the moment because she had her heart broken by Guilherme who got with her former best friend. Ana didn't get at first why, but she then started to suspect she didn't want it because of Pedro, who she still expressed disgust toward just because of his poverty, and Virgínia insisted she had nothing to do with it because she hadn't decided to go out with him then. With Ana irritated as well for having her offer rejected, she leaves Virgínia alone in the kitchen who keeps messing with her phone. That is until Pedro accompanies her best friend Letícia, who had just returned from her trip, to the kitchen where both reunites in happiness. They both go upstairs to Virgínia's room to talk things over while Pedro stays in the kitchen to fix the fridge. One hour past, Letícia decides to leave, which made both Virgínia and Pedro confused since they considered an hour too soon, but accept it anyway, and Virgínia stays in her room while Pedro accompanies Letícia to the exit again.

Virgínia and Pedro chat at the living room in the afternoon while Pedro tidies the couch. Pedro asked how her father was with their situation and she said she thought he was ok with it now that Ana wasn't picking on them anymore. Or so she thought because, coincidentally, Ana barged into the room as they talked and got mad at the sight of them chatting and beginning to nag Virgínia with how she was into Pedro simply for talking to him. Virgínia kept arguing with her, after Ana ordered Pedro to go upstairs, and kept insisting her to stop persecuting her as if she was a little kid, but Ana was using the same excuse of Pedro being part of a poor family that she couldn't date him, or even talk to him in the least. Virgínia tried using her shamelessness of liking to be with many boys at once to justify her wanting to be with the one man she started to be interested in, but Ana talked back saying she could because those guys she admired weren't poor like Pedro. The arguing made Virgínia irritated to the point of leaving the room and going upstairs as Pedro appeared again.

The Big Steps[]

In the room, she called Letícia again and invited her to come to her house so she could have someone actually nice to spend the time with, because Ana was being far too meddling and surly with her and Pedro. Letícia arrives and comforts her from the melancholy that Ana had left her. But she was also curious to know what she and Pedro had talked about when she left the other day. Letícia displays some reluctance in telling her what they had talked about, since Pedro had told her that he has a crush on Virgínia but wanted her to keep it a secret. She initially gave her the doubt by telling she thought Pedro was liking her, But Virgínia kept insisting with her curiosity to know what Pedro had actually said to her, so Letícia comes clean and says that he liked her, which Virgínia distrusted at first but Letícia said she didn't want to go that deep because he told her to keep it a secret. But Letícia decided to tell the truth to her, which got Virgínia and confused and undecided of what to do next. Virgínia also suggested for her to bring and take each other's information to one another as a way to avoid both Ana and Palomino from finding out, but Letícia suggested her to have an initiative and talk to him personally, which Virgínia accepted, although still afraid of her father finding out.

Later, when Pedro told her that he had already concluded his shift, she told him to stay a little longer to talk to him. He descends the stairs as Ana goes at her telling she was off for a party, which both a better opportunity to talk, as Letícia had mentioned to Virgínia earlier. She goes downstairs to talk to Pedro who was waiting. She told him she wanted to talk to him, assuring Pedro that they were safe to talk since Ana had left and Palomino would come back late. She tries to make Pedro tell some truths simply mentioning that Letícia said that they had talked the first time they met, but Pedro didn't want to tell the truth right away. Then, Pedro assumed she had told her his secret, making him blush, and she also apologized for Ana's behavior earlier. As Virgínia kept questioning Pedro, he finally admits that he likes her, but was afraid to assume it because that could make him lose his job. Virgínia felt a little annoyed to hear Pedro bringing it up, and assured him he didn't need to worry because they were alone. She slowly approached him, playfully intimidating him, until she finally makes a move and embraces him into their first kiss.

They keep their big step in their relationship a secret until the next day. Pedro was working and Virgínia approaches him, telling him that she was now decided to finally tell her father the truth of their decision to date, due to them having officially started dating ever since they kissed the previous day. Pedro didn't want Palomino to know, but was forced to agree with Virgínia's decision for her threatening to not date him at all if her father wasn't informed about their decision in being in a relationship. Pedro is still a little pessimistic, whereas Virgínia still has hopes that her father had changed his views at least sufficiently to accept that they were mutually in love.

With that, she keeps waiting at the living room until Palomino finally arrives and greets her. She says that she had something to confess to him and said that she wanted to be with somebody. She keeps indirectly mentioning that she wanted to date Pedro but Palomino, still not wanting them to date, stays confused about what Pedro she was talking about, and unlike Virgínia expected, when she finally admits that the Pedro she was in love with was Pedro Rezende, who he hired awhile ago, he snaps in disbelief and displays clear disapproval of their relationship. Virgínia tries to justify that Ana can hook up with many guys at once and she wanted to date Pedro only, but Palomino uses the same excuse of the discrepancy between their financial level compared to that of Pedro, which Virgínia tries to talk him out of. Palomino asks her to call Pedro to the room and she goes. In the laundry, she tells Pedro that her father wanted to talk to him, which made Pedro a little uncomfortable, already expecting he didn't approve the truth she told. Pedro has the idea to pretend he didn't know anything, which she agrees with, but also asks him to be careful with what he would say. Both get to the living room and Palomino makes Virgínia go to her room because he wanted to talk alone with Pedro.

After some time, with Virgínia in her room and on her phone, Palomino goes in telling her that he had fired Pedro and that he didn't want them talking anymore. Saddened again, she phones Letícia to unburden to her her sadness and tells her that her father had just fired Pedro because they told him about them wanting to date. Letícia keeps consoling her with her saying that Pedro must be angry with her, and Letícia contradicting it and still feeling bad for them. She calls Pedro, who was already in his home, a while later to know how he was. She apologizes to him while he says that he was right that he wouldn't accept it and Virgínia lamenting for him and how she saw that her father hasn't changed. Pedro has the idea of them meeting again in the plaza where they have met before and Virgínia agrees.

Together for Real[]

They leave their homes and meet in the plaza again, where Pedro confesses he was a little upset still, and where Virgínia felt bad also since he had told it would work many times, but Pedro didn't blame anyone, not even Palomino, despite him being close-minded. She asks what the idea he had was and he says that they could date in secret. They considered all the bad stuff that would happen if Palomino found out, like cutting Virgínia's allowance, but they agreed it was a risk worth taking. Virgínia also felt relieved because she though he was too angry with her. They had some difficulty in thinking how they were going to date hidden, but decided they would have some suggestions overtime. Back in her home, Virgínia invites Letícia over again to tell her about their plan to date hidden, which gets Letícia excited. She tells about them talking over the phone and scheduling the meeting at the plaza and that he suggested for them to date in secret. Both girls jumped in excitement with the idea, but Letícia also told her that she had to be sincere to her father some time and that she should tell him that they were decided to be together and he couldn't keep her from living and being happy the way she wanted.

Virgínia gets grounded by Palomino subsequently after a while, which prevented her from talking to distant people either through text or calls. So Letícia started helping both by going to one another's homes to tell what one wanted to tell the other one. One day, Letícia went to forward Virgínia's message to Pedro in his house, mentioning that Virgínia had said that she would be home alone that afternoon, without her sister and that her father would be home late like the other day, and that it was a perfect opportunity for them to meet again and converse. Pedro goes to Virgínia's house after in the afternoon and opens the door for him, but they don't enter and keep talking at the door only, as Pedro was still scared. Pedro says that he has other two job proposals to work in other houses, which Virgínia playfully tell him she hoped there was no girl in them saying that she didn't trust them.

But the catch up lasted shortly. Palomino comes from inside catching both talking at the front door and he takes Virgínia back inside by force. She gets annoyed by his constant behavior of not letting them even talk, attempting to talk some sense into him and telling that money isn't crucial for a relationship, especially for a young couple who just left their teenage years such as themselves, but Palomino wouldn't accept. He threatens to take her card away from her and even not letting her drive the car. When questioned by Virgínia what else he wanted to take away from her, he says that he didn't want to take anything but only wanted her to stay away from Pedro, to which Virgínia talks back threatening to run away from home because she couldn't bear living in a house where her sister always annoys her and where her father makes a fuss over her dating a boy just because he's poor. With that, Palomino feels morally forced to give their relationship a chance but they had to take it slowly because he wasn't used to it. He also gives her phone back and phones Pedro, telling him about the conversation they just had and that she threatened to run away from home if he didn't support them together, to which Pedro displayed some disapproval, but she says that he finally accepted and invites him to go to her house.

With them now fearlessly dating, Pedro also was talking and snuggling with Virgínia in her living room while she showed to him her new sunglasses. They get caught kissing by Ana, who gets infuriated by it, and yells at them. Virgínia, annoyed as expected, says that they were like that because they are now dating and that their father finally allowed their relationship to be, which Ana didn't want to believe and for which she goes as far as calling her father crazy and insulting Pedro saying he had brainwashed Virgínia. But Palomino comes in, upset at Ana's behavior, and grounds her by taking her phone and her credit card from her and she leaves irritated. Palomino apologizes to Pedro for Ana's behavior and says he was welcome to his house anytime. Both Pedro and Virgínia expresses their surprise over Palomino's drastic change in supporting them together, and Virgínia also takes pleasure on Ana's misfortune and how she won't be able to spend money around like crazy and chat with the boys.

After that, Pedro was offered an opportunity to work at Palomino's enterprise, which would certainly give him a better salary and be able to help his family way more than his old jobs, making both Virgínia and Palomino happy, as well as his family.

Personality[]

Virgínia's personality is commonly known for rivaling that of her sister Ana Mosconi, who, as the hate sink she is, is depicted as outrageously rude, disrespectful, prejudiced and self-righteous, which is demonstrated when she did not, in the very least, greet Pedro back in the first time they met when he greeted her and the continuous times she had been insulting him for his poverty. Virgínia, on the other hand, has always been friendly, not just to Pedro but to many others as well. She welcomed Pedro when he was being presented the house by Palomino, also welcoming his help to fix her air conditioner the first time they met. Virgínia also is respectful to him, as when Ana first complained about him, she talked back saying he was the new caretaker who would look after the maintenance of their house.

A person who best understands her is her best friend Letícia. When Pedro asks about whether or not Virgínia would date him even though he's poor, because he thought she would have something like her sister Ana, Letícia confirms him that she doesn't mind and that she was the opposite of Ana, as she knew Ana was self-righteous, selfish and rude, whereas Virgínia was much nicer, friendly and selfless, and that's what she appreciated her for the most, which even made her cheer for them to ultimately get together.

She also shows herself to be determined, like after she and Pedro kissed for the first time and they agreed to advance in their relationship, Virgínia decided to tell her father, who she was confident to have changed, but, unfortunately for them, he didn't and fired Pedro, making Virgínia very upset. However, she continued defending that she had the right to be with Pedro because, unlike her family, she knew his poverty wasn't a label for romance. So much so that, after Pedro wasn't working in their house anymore, she confronted her father and said that she would run away from home if she couldn't be happy with Pedro, which made Palomino finally accept their relationship, afraid of not being able to see his daughter again.

ONE boy I like!
~ An irritated Virgínia angry with Palomino after she met Pedro at the entrance of her house.
Virgínia: Okay, dad, is this what you want?
Mr. Palomino: Yes, that's what I want. That's what I want. I'm watching over my family.

Virgínia: Without chatting with the boys nor going shopping? She won't do anything more. Just crying out loud in her bed.
~ Virgínia and Pedro expressing their surprise over Palomino grounding Ana for her misbehavior.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible that the series was inspired by the relationship Pedro Rezende had with Virgínia Fonseca at the time it was created.
  • Although the characters have the same names as their real life actors, Virgínia's last name is deduced to be Palomino since her father's last name is also Palomino; that being acceptable only within the story's boundaries.
  • In the intro, Virgínia is presented with an image of her holding a big white purse. She is never shown in the series, nor on the trailer, holding that same purse; she only holds a smaller black one in the actual series.
    • She also is shows wearing Cat-Eye light pink border sunglasses, again not wearing it in the actual series, only in the trailer. In the series, she wears only a regular shaped one with an orange black-spotted design in the last episode.
  • The fact that Virgínia was over 18 could be used as a perfect argument to convince Mr. Palomino that she already had the right to make various decisions on her own and which could have settled the argument. However, the fact that she's already grown is only acknowledged by Palomino at the end of the story, when he has a conversation with Pedro and says that the patents can't control their children forever.
  • In the second to last scene, Virgínia mentions her new sunglasses she bought from a new brand called ADR, which is a reference to Pedro Rezende's actual brand called ADR (Aliança do Rezende, literally translated to Rezende's Alliance), which consists in the group that works with Pedro Rezende in his YouTube channel and that also releases merchandises for the fans.
