~ Yuri revealing his twisted goals.

Yuri Kagarin is a supporting character in the Korean Danganronpa fangame Super Danganronpa Another 2. He's the Ultimate Spaceman.

Despite being male himself, Yuri is someone who despises all males while seeking to selflessly serve all ladies so he can be forever engraved in their memories.

Personality[]

Yuri was a person who, ever since childhood, was completely obsessed with serving ladies, being fully selfless towards them and doing anything he could to help them. He lived to serve ladies and see them happy. His ultimate goal in life was to make sure a woman would remember him forever, and he was willing to do anything to achieve that goal, even if it meant sacrificing his or other people’s lives.

At the same time, Yuri hates males, always insulting them and refusing to listen to or do anything for them. He even stated that, if he had the opportunity to murder one, he would do it in the worst way possible within the rules. Yuri doesn’t make any effort to hide any of those traits, he’ll always make it obvious that he loves women and hates men, even if the others are clearly annoyed by it.

As the Ultimate Spaceman, he is neutral towards his talent. While it’s not something he always wanted to be, he was still happy that he had a talent that could please his father. During the Killing Game, he was one of the calmest students, not caring much about the despairing situation as long as the ladies are happy.

Biography[]

Background[]

Yuri was born in Russia to a rich family. His father was very talented and wanted his son to be just like him, so he made Yuri study everything related to space and trained him to become a spaceman. Yuri didn't like it at first, but still went on as he wanted to make his father proud.

One day, his family's maid was injured for a month and, in the meanwhile, another maid known as "Akane Taira" was hired as a substitute. Yuri decided to befriend her and, in one of their conversations, he learned that Akane had a very tragic past, but her life improved greatly thanks to a certain boy, and that she would do anything to meet him again. Yuri was inspired by Akane and the boy that helped her in the past, so he decided that he also wanted to be so important to a lady she would smile when remembering him, even if it cost his life.

Years later, Yuri succeeded on his goals and became a very successful spaceman. He also created an artificial intelligence named "Yuri" with the purpose of helping people. During the Tragedy, she was known as one of the world's "Symbols of Hope" thanks to his great achievements of improving society.

Due to interacting with Akane Taira and being a Symbol of Hope, Yuri met all requirements to be a participant of the second Killing Game, so he was kidnapped by Syobai and put on the Neo World Program, along with other participants. There, his memories were manipulated so Yuri thought he was still in his high school years and that he was recently invited to join Hope’s Peak.

Prologue[]

Yuri and other 14 “hope’s peak academy students” woke up on an artificial island within the Neo World Program’s virtual world. With the exception of the voids, they didn’t know they were in a virtual world and their last memory was of them going to a specific location after getting invited to Hope's peak and then passing out.

In the middle of the confusion, some people decided to introduce themselves to each other. Sora and Yuki introduced themselves to Yuri. While he showed great behavior towards Sora, he kept ignoring Yuki due to the latter being a male. This resulted in Sora not liking him at first.

Later, Yuri and all other students were told by a mysterious, broadcasted voice, to meet at the Utsuroshima park. There, a creature called Monocrow appeared, and announced to everyone that they will be living in the island forever, and that the only way to escape would be by committing murder. This left everyone angry and ready to attack, but Mikado yelled for them not to, claiming that it is dangerous and can execute them for breaking the rules. Mikado proclaimed himself as the “leader of the void” who will help everyone. Suddenly, a gunshot was heard.

The bullet hit Mikado's mask, tearing it in half perfectly and revealing his immovable expression. The bullet came from Rei Mekaru's gun. She and her friend Teruya Otori had managed to enter the Neo World Program to stop Mikado's plans. Rei revealed to everyone that they were being tricked and that Mikado is an unwanted criminal and the mastermind who created the Killing Game in the first place. However, before they could stop him, Mikado used his powers to burn Rei, disintegrate her into ashes, and later threw Teruya far away from the island.

Despite everyone finding out who the Mastermind of the Killing game is, Mikado announced that the Killing Game will still happen.

Chapter 1[]

Daily Life[]

After last night, the Killing Game participants gathered at the dining hall in the Monocruise. There, they planned to start investigating in order to find possible clues so they could escape from the island. During their discussion about the island, Yuri revealed that the island being tropical doesn’t make sense since, while the climate is tropical, the ecosystem is similar to Japan's. Kokoro agreed with it, claiming they could be on an artificial island.

Later, Monocrow called everyone to meet at the park again. There, he explained about the rules of the Killing Game: Simply killing someone is not enough, the culprit also needs to get away with their murder in a class trial in order to escape from he island. In the class trial, everyone will discuss about the murder and try to figure out who did it. If they vote for the correct culprit, only they will be executed, but if the majority votes wrong, the culprit gets to escape and everybody else is executed. Mikado also showed up and explained that, while he’s indeed the Mastermind of the Killing Game, he’ll play like a normal participant, who can kill or be killed anytime.

Days later, Kokoro revealed her invention of the SOS transmitter was a success but it was unable to pick up any signal. Hibiki was crying because she couldn’t handle the situation and wanted to escape and see her parents again. That’s when Yuri asked her, or any lady in general, to kill him, as he saw that as the only way for her to escape. Everyone was confused about Yuri’s suicidal tendencies, so he explained that his whole life he wanted to serve the ladies and he doesn’t care if he has to sacrifice himself for it. He stated that any lady in there could kill him to escape or ask him to kill somebody else, and Yuri would cooperate.

The students were all freaked out by Yuri’s goals, even the ladies. Yuri interpreted it as them not being ready to kill, so he said they can kill him when they’re truly ready and left the dining hall. Setsuka realized how tense the situation was and decided to throw a party so everyone has a chance to bond with each other and invited everyone.

Murder case[]

During the party, a lot of students got drunk, including Yuri, who would end up sleeping because of it.

Hajime took that as an opportunity and, after the party was over, he kidnapped Yuri while pretending to carry him to the Monocruise, instead taking him to the bell tower. He also injected Yuri with anesthetics to keep him sleeping for the whole night. As part of his plan, he attached a Hook to Yuri’s right scalf, but due to some inconveniences, he later had to remove it and attached it to his left scalf instead. During the day, Hajime used Yuri’s handbook to send a help image to Yuki, so he can witness Yuri’s last moments. Yuki and Sora arrived at the location to see Yuri, awake, and being grateful because he thought he was about to get killed by a woman. His left scalp had a hook connected to a life jacket worn by Hajime, who was at the top of the tower.

As part of his plan, Hajime jumped off the bell tower and, since his life jacket was tied to Yuri, it sent the latter flying into the air, making him hit the giant bell and then later fall to his death in front of Yuki and Sora. As a murder had finally happened, a investigation began for the first class trial, where the students would have to figure out who killed Yuri.

Since Yuri was willing to sacrifice himself for any woman to escape, many suspected that the culprit was female. Mainly Yoruko due to Hajime kidnapping and putting her in the crime scene so the others would suspect her. However, Sora eventually managed to convince everyone it was Hajime who did it. In the post-trial, it was revealed that Hajime did not kill Yuri to escape, but he did it because of Mikado’s murder scheme for the Voids. It was also revealed Hajime was not actually supposed to be executed despite the rules, but in an act of betrayal, Mikado had Monocrow execute him anyway.

Trivia[]

  • His "Free Time Events" are unique in that he'll never reject any gift given by Sora since she's female. During his conversations, there are also no consequences to picking the wrong answers, as Yuri will quickly forgive Sora or assume she's joking.
  • Yuri has proclaimed to have been kidnapped at least 37 times prior to the Killing Game. It is unknown why, but it could be presumed that it's because he's a important figure in astronomy.
  • His character is based on the Real-Life cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Even their names have only one letter in difference.
  • Despite his selflessness, Yuri had a few traits of a villain and could have become one:
    • Yuri himself stated he is capable of murdering a man in the worst way possible if a lady tells him to. One of his Free Time Events also reveal that he has harmed a male before.
    • Additionally, his sacrifice is portrayed as more problematic than heroic, since all it did was benefit the Mastermind and, even if the culprit was a woman and she managed to escape, it would result in the other students getting executed as part of the class trial rules.
    • However, he'll still have a page on this wiki since he's heroic towards ladies, always serving them for no reason other than for the sake of it, and because his villainy is only intended and never actually happens.
